What an important day july 24th will be for india at tokyo olympics....

its overloaded with so many events for india and some of the events we are expected to win medals :

Archery mixed team

Weightlifting - Mirabai chanu

Shooting - 10m Air rifle women and 10m Air pistol mens (Saurabh chaudhary)

Hockey - India vs New zealand (Mens) and India vs Netherlans (womens)

TT - Mixed dpubles round of 16

Tennis - womens doubles

Badminton - Group stages

Rowing

Hoping for atleast good/better results on this 1st day unlike 1st day of Rio which was really bad and set the precedence for entire olympics

One good thing is we have sure shot medal on 1st day in form of mirabai chanu if she completes even one lift in both snatch & clean and jerk!!!

Rio was unusually disastrous and controversy started even before the Olympics started - the Sushil Kumar vs Narsingh Yadav saga, Rohan Bopanna not wanting Leander Paes as his doubles partner and Dharambir Singh banned for 8 years.

No major distracting news coming out except Covid related is a good sign of preparedness.

We had relay disaster causing the loss of 2 teams. Though no ban things so far and hope not afterwards also.

Tokyo - 2020

Just read some where that neeraj will skip diamond league event in london because of covid restrictions in Japan for persons travelled to UK.....

He will continue training in sweden until month end and directly travel to tokyo from there

Ideally it would have been better for him to get some more competition as he was peaking slowly...lets see how it goes

Satwik and chirag are drawn along world no.1 indonesian pair in mens doubles badminton

In one way its good that even if they finish second in their group they will avoid this pair until finals

Olympic Badminton Draw is out

Men's Singles: Sai Praneeth is in Group D with :NED Mark Caljouw and :ISR Misha Zilberman. The match against Caljouw is tricky but Praneeth should win. He is then expected to meet :HKG Ng Ka Long in the Round of 16

Women's Singles: PV Sindhu is in group I with :HKG Cheung Ngan Yi and :ISR Ksenia Polikarpova. Again the :HKG match is tricky but Sindhu should win. She is expected to meet :KOR Kim ga Eun in Round of 16

Men's Doubles: Perhaps the toughest draw as Satwik-Chirag pair are in Group A with :INA Minions, World no 3 :TPE Lee Yang-Wang Chi and :GBR Sean Vendy-Ben Lane.
