sanjaydas 14 Posted December 2, 2019 #9431 Share Posted December 2, 2019 Actually, we do not have any hope in shotgun; so they better do not go.

Italy does not have any quota in Trap. Well if the Italian wins the quota in the European shotgun championships...... They will be out but almost surely then it would go to turkey....... So kynan will miss out either way...... So only Anish can get a quota..... He is 11th currently has to shoot better than ukr and should be safe strength does not come from physical capacity but from an indomitable will. - Gandhi

From the qualification document: Anish can win the World Ranking quota. That quota is not allocated to NRAI but to Anish. So, no swap or changing the athlete. Apart from Anish, as I have said multiple times, there is a very very small chance for Kynan to get a WR quota. No one else has any chance to win any more quotas. Regarding swaps, we can swap maximum 1 quota and that swap has to be in the same gender. Practically speaking, we have extra quota in Pistol women with Manu starting in both events. So, it is logical to swap Chinki's quota. Now that swap could either be for 50x3 or Shotgun. (We have full quotas in the rest). Decision regarding swap depends on selection of 10m Air Rifle. If Anjum qualifies ahead in 10m, then she will easily start in 50x3 as well, so only logical swap is in Shotgun. But if Elavenil pips Anjum, we can swap Chinki's quota for Anjum in 50x3. Regarding team selection: Anyone interested can read the selection policy of NRAI here. Basically, instead of having one single selection trial, selection would be based on the average of the scores across various competitions and selection trials, with bonus points for Medals/Finals, World Records and Higher Rankings. Quota winners also get bonus points. At present it is very close between Anjum, Apurvi and Elavenil. Mehuli is losing out because she can't get any bonus points as she has been shooting in MQS category. Actually 2 extra points that one gets after taking the average of 5 best of last 6 international events has put Anjum close to a point ahead of Ela as of now. That looks a bit flawed clause in the policy. Also they did not count for world cup finals where Ela did so well. As a result, as of now Ela is much behind Anjum and will need to shot 4 or 5 points better than Anjum in Delhi world cup to overcome that close to 1 point deficit. That looks really difficult. So, if NRAI strictly adheres to the policy, Apurvi and Anjum are most likely to go. But, there is a clause that NRAI can make the changes in national interest. So, if NRAI considered current form as the criteria for that change, then there is a chance for Ela but NRAI has not done that in the past. I hope common sense prevails here and they look at things objectively, can't believe Valarivan can miss out, she is also such a wonderful finals shooter. nitinsanker 202 Posted December 3, 2019 #9437 Share Posted December 3, 2019 Also in the race to tokyo badminton ranking..... Good improvement by kidambi and saurabh...... I feel fairly confident that one of kidambi, saurabh , prannoy or kashyap will join sai in male singles....... Saina needs a period of rest to get completely fit..... But time for her is running out and she would 3-4 good results to bring her back strength does not come from physical capacity but from an indomitable will. - Gandhi
