India’s most decorated Davis Cup player Leander Paes and the country’s foremost singles star Somdev Devvarman are both set to miss the second round of the Davis Cup Asia-Oceania Group I tie against South Korea to be held in Chandigarh from July 15 to 17.

The tie, which comes a month prior to the Rio Olympics, will be played on grass — Paes’ favoured surface. But it is learnt that the 42-year-old, who is gunning for his seventh Olympic games, had made himself unavailable for Davis Cup duties at the start of year.

Paes last played for India in the dispiriting loss to the Czech Republic last September in the World Group playoff.

Just a query. What about the Seeding's in badminton, have they been already decided, or will be decided based on the ranking's in August? Australian Open and a couple of Grand Prix Gold events to come, Jwala/Ashwini currently are 9th I guess, if they can push to 8th position, it will really help them.

There shall be up to sixteen seeds in singles and four seeds in doubles of the five events in the Olympic Games Badminton competition.

The seeds for the 2016 Olympic Games Badminton competition shall be determined using the BWF ranking list of 21 July 2016

That means Saina will face one of the top 4 seeds in QF. Too tough!

Badminton Seedings will be as per ranking of Jul 21.

However, getting to 8th ain't gonna help Jwala/Ashwini, Only 4 seeds in doubles.

Singles events are also currently scheduled to have only 13 seeds each (41 players in each singles event as per http://bwfbadminton.com/2016/05/25/trio-get-rio-2016-tripartite-places/ which equates to 13 seeds)
