Hey Gv looking forward to seeing what events are there this week

last week has been really frustrating as an Indian olympic fan

1. Loss of all three Indian boxers from the quota race - the poor state of Indian boxing was exposed while we are seeing  record numbers in other  sport ....... Boxing seems to be the where there will be a steep fall from London .....partially it is the qualification process but mainly it is the poor state of the federations ... Many of our federations seem to go through this political crap and Indian sports and fans suffer ...... the last two years the boxing federation has been going through all the jockeying for power and our sports lack exposure , support and hence are coming down , the same thing happened with hockey , gymnastics and now rowing and boxing

2. Sidhanth thilanya acheiveing the quota standard and then the wind being just above the norms ( +2.1 )

3. Jitu and anissa reaching the finals but no medals

4. poor baton exchange in the taipei open led to no results

5. strong -1.4 winds lead to our women runners not improving on our fed cup results at the taipei open

6. No improvements even on PBs at the Japan seiko open

So I am looking forward to the luck changing this week and looking forward to see your list ............

of course major events seem to be continuing into this week ...... Roland garros , boxing shooting

Leander might participate? why only might? and isnt bopanna participating too?

Why is Mahesh Bhupathi even trying to qualify? He is not eligible to play Olympics.

Rule:

Players must be part of a nominated team for three Fed Cup (women) or Davis Cup (men) events between the 2012 and 2016 olympics. This requirement is reduced to two Fed/Davis Cup events from 2013 to 2016 if their nation competed at the Zone Group round robin level for three of the four years or if the player has represented their nation at least twenty times. All players must have been part of a nominated team for a Fed/Davis Cup event in 2015 or 2016

Bhupathi is not a part of national team for 4 years now.

3 :IND  in action at the boxing world championships .today ...................

While we have been disappointed with the No Indians achieving Olympic Quota at the Boxing Womens world championship ....... we still have many of our boxers left and I  hope all of us  get behind these hardworking boxers  ...   There are 6 indian still in action out of 10 weight classes...... while this is the olympic qualification it is also a world championship .............

sarjubala in the 48 Kg ( round of 16 ) - in action today  - our best boxer currently - seeded second - hopefully she would get a medal

Nikhat Zareen  - In the 54 (  QF ) - This girl must be watched to see our boxing future ......I feel she can come to 51 Kg and try to be in Tokyo

Sonia Lather - In the 57 ( QF ) -She is doing well and again may be saritas replacement so we must see her performance closely

Pavitra - In the 64 ( round of 16 ) - in action today - she is a very good boxer in 2014 she reached the QF

saweety - in the 81 ( QF ) .............. again one of Indias fine women boxers , a very likely medalist

seema punia in the 81+ ( round of 16 ) - in action today

today I am hoping for all three boxers to win  but  ... Pavitra and sarjubala should win easily 3-0 is the score I am expecting ..................... Seema bout is even-steven with a slight for the Aze boxer so :fingers:

Bad day in shooting. No one qualifies for the final in 50m prone rifle men and 25m rapid fire pistol men. Last time's medallist Gagan Narang seems to be struggling for form in all the events he's participating in

Narang has been having a back issue so had withdrawn from the three positions and only was participating in the prone so I guess that must be affecting him...hope he recovers in time for Rio as India is fielding him in three events

    • 2 things...   first, for what concerns the cooperation between inline skating and speedskating federations...sorry to disppoint some of you, but there's a great cooperation between them   the point is that many "summer" skaters just don't want to try the ice because they have too much to give up for that   you name places like Collalbo or Baselga, but for the "summer skating" guys from centeral and southern regions it's not an option, it's not that they make it for a living with those disciplines, they have to focus on their studies and build a post-competitive sport career and they just can't place themselves into a hole in the mountains when they maybe are studying in some prestigious universities in the big cities   as I already posted more than once, the idea of covering one of those tracks in the mountains was something idiotic, a political concession impossible to be sustained   the one and only chance to build a true legacy and an efficient, attractive national training center was to build a permanent indoor oval in Milan, beside the Forum   that would have given all the "summer skaters" a true opportunity to try the ice experience and at the same time find the most useful, attractive, prestigious places to continue their studies and try and manage them together with their sports career   any other place wouldn't stand a chance   second...don't give Salvini any credit he doesn't deserve...actually, I think he doesn't even know that in Cortina there's a sliding sports track    it's not thanks to him that the Cortina track's building finally went underway
    • c'mon, guys! relax! sciallatevi un po'!    you're making me sick...it's just the season start and this is a sport where only the world championship (and Olympic, in the specific years) medals count   don't get mad for a couple of races held thousend miles away from home after the team had already passed their first climax (the internal selection)...there are still 2 full seasons before the Olympics
    • Super Round Results   21/11    b.   2-0  b.   9-1   22/11    b.   8-2  b.   9-6   nothing is decided yet, all teams still have a thoretical chance to make the Gold Medal match   Tomorrow, the last day of the Super Round sees  facing the  at Noon local time (4 a.m. CET) and  facing  at 7 p.m. local time (11 a.m. CET)   the medal games are scheduled for Sunday, BMM at Noon local, GMM at 7 p.m. local
    • very poor performance by the US bullpen both Yesterday and Today    not very impressed by this US team for the entire tournament, also in the Mexican first group (Panama deserved to qualify more than them, but they were lucky with the draw and won the decisive direct matchup)   Venezuela confirmed themselves as a very strong team at bat, but with too many troubles on the mound   Today against Japan they had to make a pitching change already in the 1st inning and basically they had to go for a bullpen game, but it didn't come out like the Dodgers'   Japan always on top of their game, even when the pitching staff doesn't perform at best...frankly, they look more and more unbeatable when no MLB superstar is involved (like in this case), but also when it comes down to the top of the pops it's not that they look worse (see 2023 WBC)  there's a serious risk that their domination becomes even too easy, the gap between them and the rest of the world is widening year after year   Taiwan might look like a surprise, but after the 2023 fail, I was sure they were going to rebound and establish themselves among the top teams in the WBSC tournaments, as they are very good in each and every aspect of the game (batting, pitching...maybe a bit less on defense, but you can't have it all)
