Hurdler Thingalaya clocks Olympics time in wind-assisted race

Thingalaya clocked the Olympics qualifying time in the US but unfortunately, the race was wind-assisted and hence the time would not count as a 'qualified' time.
 
 
Sooner or later he would qualify for Rio...He hit 11.47s today....

Today the wind has been unkind to india ...strong head winds in duttee 200m and just this 2.1 wind ....a small +.1 beyond the legal limit ...............also as the post showed hit the 6th hurdle ..... so a smooth run andI am sure sidhanth will make it ................. but the Indian atheletes are just missing it for the last month  or so .................

Seema Antil came agonisingly close to reach the quota length  on 15th may 2016 ..... the discus distance is 61 m

Discus thrower Seema Punia threw her season best of 60.80m in Claremont, US but fell short by just 0.20m to book her ticket to Rio as the Olympic Qualification standard stands at 61m

This mixed doubles situation might get messy again. Currently, at Paes' ranking, there is no chance he and Sania can get direct qualification. On the other hand, Bopanna and Sania are assured of qualifying.

 

However, if India decides to submit Paes/Sania as an entry, they may get the Asian continental quota. But its tricky. Currently, Japan is ahead of India with Nishikori at world no. 6 and Misaki Doi at world no. 38, for a combined ranking of 44. Paes/Sania have a combined ranking of 51. Also, there are only 3 continental quotas available and a possible 5 continental federations vying for those quotas. So its difficult to be assured of qualification for Paes/Sania whereas Bopanna/Sania would be assured of qualifying.

 

There can easily be an issue here with Paes showing his 3 mixed doubles titles last year and Bopanna claiming assured qualification...

Will a great showing in the French Open Men's Doubles help leander get past nishikori and doi's combined ranking?

I'm expecting Sania Rohan team this time. Leander is not up to the mark these days and his partnership with Sania hasn't worked so well either. Sania and Rohan are good friends since long and they have done well together. They teamed up recently at ITPL and results were great.

Also Rohan is in form. In addition to that both will get a good seed. Their combined rank is 12

I think Leander will always be a better player than Rohan.

      now the shooting sport takes a little Christmas break and the new season resumes in January with the Asian Championships for the Shotgun specialists ( Doha, Jan. 11th through 22nd)   the World Cup will be back in late March, beginning in  Tangiers (March 25th through April 3rd, Shotgun specialists only)   the Rifle and Pistol specialists will start their new season with the European 10m Championships in  Yerevan (Feb. 27th through March 5th) and the 1st World Cup stage for them will be in  Granada in April (5th through 13th)   300m, 25m and 50m European Champs will be in  Osijek (May 30th through June 21st), meanwhile the Shotgun European Champs will be held in  Athens from Sept. 27th through Oct. 13th

      so, the 2025 season is officially over, after the World Cup Finals have been completed with the Shotgun events, where (once again!!!) a new format for the final stage of each event has been experimented for the first time (before it becomes a regular feature in the next season)   the new format enlarge the starting field in each event's final stage to 8 shooters and dramatically shortens the number of target shots to decide the placings   the only characteristic remaining is the progressive eliminations principle   now, as written above, 8 shooters make the final, where after only 12 targets the eliminations start: by then, the last 2 shooters must leave the competition (7th and 8th ranked)   after 12 more targets (24 in total), 2 more shooters have to leave the final (5th and 6th ranked)   then, the crazy carousel starts: every 4 targets we have a new elimination  so, after 28 targets, the 4th ranked shooter is done; after 32 targets the bronze medallist is known and after only 36 targets (provided there's no need for a shoot-off), compared to the previous 60, the gold and silver medallists are crowned   I guess the tiktok people with the attention span of a chinchilla have won once again
