I know religious people are definitely never going to admit most of the stories have no historical basis at all, that's fine. Anyway, unless one can prove they're a direct relative of the cavemen of tens of thousands of years ago in this specific area, there is just no claiming it as "our land" based on nothing.

Have you ever been to Israel? Because you can find historical evidence of many of the "stories"

And btw we are talking about 3000 years before us

Sure, some things are simply historical events retold with a kind of fantasy layer over it, to make it more appealing to read and/or - most importantly - to put some lessons into it, which is fine (and which is the main way to read most religious texts, as 'lessons' and messages by the writers instead of actual historical facts). But let's not pretend that things like Moses splitting the sea or the entire exodus have a significant historical basis, based on actual evidence. Anyway, like I said: I'm well aware people who believe the religious book of their choosing is a historical book aren't going to ever believe otherwise, I grew up in a town full of similiarly minded people :)

Meanwhile:

Quote

Maher al-Assad also supervised operations of the dreaded Shabiha squads, pro-Assad Alawite paramilitaries known for sectarian attacks against Sunni civilians.[17] As the commander of Fourth Armoured Division, Maher is directly involved in the production, trafficking and export operations of Syria's multi-billion dollar drug empire, which mostly smuggles an illegal drug known as Captagon.[a]

There is a ton of evidence, even if you don't believe the Bible is real,  that israel is our ancestral land.  And we simply took what's ours.  And in fact there was never anyone named Palestinians there.   Simply a name given to the region by the Roman's.  But the actual people is just a collective of individuals from different Arab countries where they were kicked out from.  And we are expected to cater to them.   There are plenty of other countries that should take them.   Iran, qatar, Iraq, Kuwait, Yemen, Algeria,  libiya, Egypt, Tunisia, Morocco to name a few.

This feels like... not an argument an American (or a Canadian :P ) should be making given where we live and how many countries could "take us back"...

The whole "homeland" talk (which both Israelis and Palestinians engage in) always bothers me because of how incredibly stupid it is.

As a random example, I am Acadian. So where is my "homeland"?

Is it Quebec, the "French" area in North America?

Is it New Brunswick, where my ancestors fled to after being deported?

It it Louisiana, which was set asside for them as a place to live by the British after they were deported?

It is Nova Scotia, where the Acadians settled before being conquered and deported?

Is it Normandy, where my ancestors lived in Europe before settling in Nova Scotia?

Is it Denmark, where my ancestors lived before conquering Normandy?

Or do I go back further? Or maybe I should live in Great Britain since my ancestors were forced to become subjects of the Crown? And I'm Roman-Catholic, so maybe Italy is my homeland?

Especially stupid because for every single one of those places, some other group has a better claim as it being their "homeland" than I do, because it turns out it isn't that rare for multiple ethnic groups to have competing legitimate claims over the same area.

Anyway, I ended up moving to Washington State, which is objectively not "my homeland" but, hey, weather's nice here.

America was founded as a country for immigrants from all over (legal immigration), Israel is the land of the Jews, the one land of the jews, so yes i could definitely say that they should take them back, though after the recent attacks i'm not sure who can take them where since it seems like we are about to turn the middle east into a big crater (hopefully)

Meanwhile, Iran killed a Palestinian civilian on the West Bank last night (and lightly injured two Israelis) in a 180 missile attack, which - like in April - seems to have ended up being not much more than somewhat annoying and damaging a few military buildings.

America was founded on a big chunk of empty land that was uninhabited, right.

And hey, my ancestors moved to North America well over a hundred years before America was founded. Always tickled me a little that I immigrated to a country where some of my ancestors lived before the country even existed.
