This is the goal. Bonner kinda left the net wide open there :p

The f***ing Pope would've saved that.

Hmm. Obviously popular in Ireland....but I’d nominate IRE 0 NOR 0 in USA 94 as the single worst World Cup game ever played - including West Germany - Austria in 1982.

It seems like Charlton blamed Sheedy for a poor pass that eventually had Aldridge losing the ball? And Townsend (#13) really should have cancelled that play with a foul on Baggio long before Bonner had a chance to even make a save.

Charlton’s method was always bang it forward at every opportunity & don’t bother with midfield.  Obviously it didn’t always work against good players.

Another sad one - young Russo-Australian figure skater Ekatarina Alexandrovskya.

That was the typical English football of the era. Didn't like Ireland play England both at the 1988 Euro and 1990 WC? It's been years since I watched this but I remember one of these games was particulary boring, probably the 1988 Euro tbh.

It was called long-ball theory.  Thankfully short-lived.
