I see people argue over the same thing again. Remember that better is the enemy of the good. If the milennials want to ruin biathlon with their "better ideas" and laser guns then they get no support from me. They have the brake dance crap at the Olympic already. Just leave the biathlon alone FFS.

It was about time they race the same distance as men.

All very well in theory, but biathlon is about balancing shooting & skiing.  Since women are smaller & the rifle is the same, longer races just give even more of an advantage to the strong skiiers/weak shooters.

Even modern pentathlon was better when they had to load physical lead pellets, because it was harder to do than just recocking.

I think Shooting won‘t be that important today than for example last year in Antholz. The 2.5k is really hard, the best skiers could at least take 10 seconds per loops on not such fast skiers. We saw it last year at the World Cup, the Fields were really splitted in skiing times.

For some nations it could be an advantage that the women race last. I think of Sweden, Germany, Italy ... and in this Order maybe Norway have a little disadvantage.

French could the Norwegians dangerous in this combination, but they had two disasters at the mixed relay at the last two world champs and chevalier not looked good at the test races. She will be the key, Simon could be really dangerous at this course profile for Roeiseland.

For some in our country it is interesting, why Fak and Bauer compete today and not our youngsters. Jakov said he would like to compete to get some vibes before important races. I would be very pleased if our men ended at least in top 10 less than a minute behind and our girls finish without getting lapped.

So, fingers crossed, going for top 15.

I think they always turn around at WCH, just so they make it different, I guess. ?

At least the last two times it was women - men, didn't bother to check further :p

To be honest, I like when they mix the order up. As far as I'm concerned, mixed relays at the highest level (so WC, WCH and OG) should always be women - men followed by men - women - followed by women - men and so on. Not much about equality, it's just more fair to have a roughly 50/50 balance in the order in an event where things like final sprints are a thing - and so always having the same order always benefits countries who have stronger men/women (depending on who's always last).

The exact distances have changed quite often recently if I'm not mistaken, it seems like they've been trying it out for a while now. I'm fairly sure I've seen mixed relays with equal distances before.

In World Champs history it is the First Time that the Men Start. Next year at the olympics it will be a 4x6km Mixed Relay (W+M) again so maybe in Oberhof 23 the Men First again.

The same distances they run since last season.

    • It may also be that Ceccerelli saw that the conditions in the Italian youth teams were very poor and that is why she insisted on setting up her own team (the results of young Italian skiers unfortunately confirm this). A private team will always be better than a team with 10-12 skiers with max. 3-4 coaches, a one doctor and a physiotherapist. Colturi is the only skier in her team and she has several coaches, a masseur, a doctor etc. Of course, it costs money, but since the parents are famous and have money + Red Bull got involved. I don't understand why she can't start for Italy again? Red Bull should care more that Colturi starts in Cortina under the Italian flag than the Albanian one + Red Bull, as a brand, always has a bigger sales market in Italy with a population of 60 million than in small Albania. I hope that this can still be reversed by next year. For this we need talks between the federation + Colturi's parents + Red Bull + possibly the Italian Olympic Committee. Colturi may be a skier equal to Brignone or even better in the future. We can't lose her, so we have to do now!
    • I`m very disappointed with this weekend. Only becouse of Ghiotto form I`m happy. Unfortunately, the women's team will not function well if Lollobrigida skips most of the training camps and Fontana starts alternately in short tack and long track. It will end with her not winning any medals here or there, because it`s already clear that it will be very difficult to achieve good results in long track. I hope that she understands this, because in short track she has a real chance of winning medals in the women's relay and the mixed relay but in long track not.
    • Tragic performance of the Italian women's team - last place and probably something bad happened at the start. There are so few starts in the team that it will be a problem to even qualify for the World Championships - 8 best teams. After Lollobrigida's return and Fontana's addition, I was counting on much more, but it seems that there are too few joint trainings. With individual quality, we have no right to lose to the Czechs without Sablikova, or anonymous Korea. And unfortunately this start will count for a lot, because there are only 2 more and our chances of playing at the World Championships are minimal. In my opinion with Fontana going from Short Track to Long Trackand vice versa, we won't be much use in the team. Here great teamwork is needed, not improvisation. As of today, there is very little chance that we will qualify the women's team for the games.
    • men advanced to Division A for the first time since 2018 (when they went 1-8). Don't expect much progress next year
    • Ok, but there we are talking about a person who has parents from different countries. Colturi has nothing to do with Albania.
    • There are few people here from Austria, Switzerland, Norway and Finland.
    • The worst editions in XXI century for us were Vancouver: 5 medals (only 1 gold for Razzoli's on the penultimate day) and Sochi: 8 medals (but no gold). Turin was already a prelude to this bad period, although the number of gold medals was ok. Overall we won fewer medals at home than in 2002 and this was probably the only case in the 21st century when the host country won fewer medals at home than 4 years earlier, either in summer or winter. In general the years 2008-2016 were very bad in our sport, both in summer and winter. Only 2018 in Korea was a slight rebuild + 2 fantastic summer editions in Tokyo and Paris. in Beijing 2022 we won a lot of medals - 17 but only 2 gold (If it weren't for Gogga's injury, I think it would have been 4 gold).
