After Day 3 GB have beaten the gold totals of 1896, 1904, 1952, 1960 and 1996. They have equalised with 1928, 1948 and 1976. In terms of total medals they have beaten 1904 and equalised 1896

Kudos to Ellis & Smith who beat the number three seeds to top their group in the badminton mixed doubles. This should give them an easier draw in the quarter finals and the possibility of sneaking a medal.

For tommrow The main Medal Hopes are Duncan Scott in the Swimming, Bianca Walken in the Taekwondo, the team dressage and any one of the British Trio in the Women’s Triathlon. Possibly but not likely hopes are Thomas Dean in the swimming, Eden Cheng and Lois Toulson in the diving ,Mahama Cho in the Taekwondo and the rugby sevens. Any other medals would be massive upsets,

It would be far from a shock if both Scott and Tom Dean medal. I would add a few names to your list. If Kathleen  Dawson's turn was as good as her opponents I would be confident of her medalling. As it is she still has a chance. In canoe slalom Kimberley Woods is capable of medalling. And finally over the next 2-3 days we have a chance of winning our first ever medals in weightlifting. Both Zoe Smith and Sarah Davies are competing on Tuesday and Davies at least has a genuine hope of a medal.

They will play Tang Chun Man and Tse Ying Suet of Hong Kong on Wednesday in the quarter finals. The Hong Kong pair were world bronze medalists in 2018 so will be very tough but who knows - Ellis and Smith looks to be in good form.

Still better than one of the Chinese pairs! They had never beaten the pair they overcame today before so who knows. The commentators have suggested the slow conditions in the badminton venue actually favour the tactics the GB pair like to employ and hinder most of their opponents who play a different style of game so it could be an interesting contest.

I can't believe it! British 1-2 in the pool!

A great result. The rest of today has been rather mixed for Team GB so far - some great performances in the Rugby (Just about) and Tennis and Sailing  but some disappointing performances elsewhere.  Boxing not looking as sharp as expected. They will do well to match their Rio total medal - which probably means Team GB not making the 45-52 medal range.

The day got worse after that. Canoeing was a big disappointment, and looking back triathlon was nice but could have been better. Taekwondo hasn't been great today either.

As now we come across the world
To share these Games of old
Let all the flags of every land
In brotherhood unfold

Canoeing was more of a mild disappointment. She hadn’t been looking great in qualifying and I was expecting her to not make the final.

Consolation bronze for Bianca Walkden in the Taekwando, we look to be heading for silver in the Dressage. Best ever finish in women's mountain bike....
