I’m guessing the :GRE pole vaulter there is not a native speaker of the language of Cavafy?   “Oh my Gaaawd!”

He is a native Greek speaker. I'm not sure about his education, perhaps he went to American schools of Greece and maybe he grew up speaking English at home as his mother is not Greek, but he was born in Greece, has a Greek father, lived in Greece his entire life and in interviews he speaks Greek perfectly.

So :GRE Karalis 4th in PV with 5.80 and :GER Baehre 11th with 5.70...

Hey @OlympicsFan, remember at the European U23s last month when you said Karalis only won silver because Mondo and Baehre weren't there? And that Karalis would not have won a medal if they went? :p

The sad thing is that you actually think that you have a point ... not realizing that Baehre's height here (5.70 m) was still better than what Karalis showed at the U23 european championships (5.65 m). Even if Baehre would have only jumped 5.30 m here, those are two different competitions and the whole point was that Baehre jumped higher than 5.65 m pretty much the whole season and therefore very likely would have jumped higher than 5.65 m at the U23 european championships.

Attachment is the great fabricator of illusions; reality can be obtained only by someone who is detached.

Karalis also skipped 5.70m at the U23 and only had one attempt at 5.75 before trying for 5.80 ;)

But we forgot to ask the key question: who is doping here?

/sarcasm

Karalis doped of course. That's the only way how he could possibly improve from 5.65 to 5.80 in less than one month.

There's not any good forecast website for the multi-events anymore, is there? :(

If you'd like to help our fellow Totallympics member Bruna Moura get to the 2026 Winter Olympics, after her car crash on the way to the 2022 Olympics, every tiny bit of help would be greatly appreciated! Full story and how to help can be found here!

By the way, apparently Hassan's last 200m in the 5k went in 27.7 while Mu's last 200m in the 800 went in 28.0 :d

Too bad there was no potential quadruple :p
