The only Tokyo 2020(1) sport in which slovakia managed to qualify for the very first time in its history is golf.

Thanks to the 45-year-old naturalized South African golfer Rory Sabbatini. Rory will be the oldest athlete in our team, 67 days older than Shooter Erik Varga.

Sabbatini was born in Durban, South Africa. He turned professional in the world Golf circuit in 1998, during his career he won 8 tournaments, including 6 PGA Tour events and finished 2nd in the 2007 Masters.

The 20th December 2018 Sabbatini became officially Slovak citizen, A citizenship he applied thanks to his marriage with his long time love Martina. She will accompany him in the small 3 members Slovak golf team during this historic moment for Golf in the country as his coach and support, She was originally picked as caddie, but later at the NOC final delegation nomination assembly it was changed, she will be listed as his coach in Tokyo and the president of our Golf federation (Rory´s wife cousin) will assumes the duties of his caddie.

Just like for Slovakia also for Sabbatini himself it will be the first Olympics. He was not selected by South Africa for Rio 2016 during the return of the sport under the five rings, now he will be an Olympian in the colors of his new country.

If a bird grabs the ball and flies away with it, what happens? But what if a crocodile eats one of the players?

If the lights light up exactly at the correct moment, he was definitely first, since his light went on first. Not sure if those lights are 100% accurate though?

the player can drop a new ball (with no penalty) where the thing happened...

p.s. it's already happened in the past...more than once (the yearly tournament in New Orleans is famous because it often has alligators sunbathing on the side of the artificial lakes around the course)...

I've seen some very funny videos on youtube featuring birds who pick up balls and fly away :)

Did those alligators ever take a bite out of a golfer's ass?

    • Of the top teams the world with traditions, only Portugal didn`t play in 3 World Cups in a row: 1986-2002 (1990, 1994 and 1998), but then fewer teams played in the World Cup than now. I don't really remember what caused the crisis in Portuguese football in the 1990s or how it was done with this later? Perhaps we should follow their example?
    • Well... If not qualifying for the World Cup for the third consecutive time isn't enough to bring about change in Italy, I can't imagine what will be.
    • Gravina is simply stupid and probably has some kind of hold over other important key figures in Italian football, since he was elected in 2024 with a majority of over 90% of the votes... I have a hard time imagining it any other way. Compared to him, even Carraro, Berlusconi and Moggi seem like nice and kind gentlemens   Some people believe that Calciopoli in 2006 began the decline of Italian football and that may be true. It only got worse from there, not counting a single accidental Euro 2021 win- something similar to Greece in 2004. In 2009 Roberto Baggio prepared a 900-page report on necessary reforms in Italian football, but the then-FIGC board tossed it into the trash bin. Now we see the consequences...
    • I thought our former football President was greedy, selfish, power hungry and delusional, but apparently he has an equal counterpart in Gravina. Some people just lack common decency.
    • Well, it's possible that Italians may be more bitter towards short track officials after the robbery they perpetrated against Sighel at the Olympics and therefore more willing to comment and criticize them, but it doesn't make the decision any less ridiculous.   Also, the fact we are Italians, and therefore used to the low standards of football refereeing, makes us especially qualified and trained to identify biased/crooked/incompetent judging
    • I think it was never in the history of our sport has there been anyone as brazen and stupid as Gravina. Before presidents would resign, or at least hide for a while, rather than go into a full-blow scandalous attitude with full larrogance and pride. I hope this idiot gets fired anyway, even if he doesn't resign.
