Here the schedule of Day 6, Last day of the Preliminary Round stage

2018 IIHF World Junior Championship
In Buffalo, :USA , 26 December 2017 to 5 January 2018

Sunday December 31st, 2017 -

Preliminary Round Last Day Schedule (GMT -5)

Group A

16:00  :USA United States vs Finland :FIN    (in Key Bank Center)

18:00  :SVK Slovakia vs Denmark :DEN    (in Harborcenter)

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Rest Day: :CAN Canada

*Canada is already the Group winner, Finland and the US still fight for 2nd place, Slovakia can finish at best 3rd.

**USA vs FIN the winner of this match (doesn´t matter if in regulation time or after OT/GWS) will finish 2nd in the group. Finland can not finish worse than 3rd. even if they lose this match. USA can still finish 2nd, 3rd but also 4th if they lose to Finland and Slovakia win against Denmark.

***SVK vs DEN crucial match for both teams to avoid the relegation round, Slovakia need one single point from this match to assure the qualification for the play-offs and send the Danes to the relegation battles, Denmark can still finish 4th and advance to the quarterfinals but only by winning in regular time, in this case it would be Slovakia who will have to play the relegation round.

Group B

12:00  :SUI Switzerland vs Czech Republic :CZE    (in Key Bank Center)

20:00  :RUS Russia vs Sweden :SWE    (in Key Bank Center)

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Rest Day: :BLR Belarus

*No relegation troubles for the 4 teams playing today, since Belarus is assured to finish last in this group and will have to play the relegation series against the 5th team of Group A.

**Russia s Sweden match for the first place. If Sweden manage to grab at least one point they will top the group. Russia need to win against Sweden by at least 2 goals margin (if the Czechs beat SUI in regular Time) to top the group, otherwise any win in regulation time will be enough for Russia to take the first place.

***SUI vs CZE, The Czechs can finish 2nd if they win and Russia will not do the same against Sweden, Switzerland can finish 3rd in case of a at least 3 goals margin win against CZE or by any regular time win if Russia will gain point(s) in the match with Sweden.

I knew that this will be a extremely stressful match..but, oh dear, So many stupid penalties from Slovak players in such an important game

also the refereeing is absolutely awful tonight. if the guys will continue to whistle this way, they really risks to being hit by someone :d

We will play the U20 Top Division next year again  for the 24th time in a row. and we maintain our status of a never relegated team from the Junior World Championships since our first appearance in 1996.

But sincerely very embarassing performance of the referees. I am pretty sure this was their last match in the tournament.
