Great ,,,

He seemed almost too fast to be non-african. I guess there is no chance that a real european athlete will win a medal in mens half marathon or mens 5000m.

Attachment is the great fabricator of illusions; reality can be obtained only by someone who is detached.

And Yasemir Can will do the half marathon as well, because winning only the 10 and 5 km is for pussies :p

I think there is always a chance in the half marathon with changing conditions, and if you aren't in good shape there's no chance. I'm hopeful Meucci from Italy can challenge the Africans.

Well, Ilias Fifa's history is far to be close to other transfer athletes.

He is a former inmigrant who put his live in danger to try to reach Spain at the age of 16 travelling in the unders of a truck to pass the border. And after living almost six years as an undocumented he reached spanish nationality. So, for me, he's a "real european".

Spain as a country has a lot of inmigration, and we are clearly a multicultural country, and our athletics selection is full of moroccoan (and cuban) born athletes that reach the country usually with their families looking for a decent life, like Adel Mechaal tomorrow in 5000, moroccoan born living in Spain since he's 3 years old.

I'm just saying this, because some country's masive athlete's purchases is making all countrys with african-origin athletes make guilty, and that's far from beeing true.

I just think that putting all athletes in the same box is not fair. Not for the sport, the countrys or the fans.

With this level of globalitation Europe is having those days I think it's imposible to see again a "real european" athletics events, and the fastest we admit that the best is going to do for the sport. But this "athlete buying" thing is going out of hands and both IAAF and EAA should have done something by now because they're killing the sport. The kenyan dudes that win gold and silver for Turkey in men's 10,000 just said that they have no idea of speaking Turkish and they have suposely being living there for several years now.

I just remenber the case of Yunier Perez, a cuban sprinter living on Spain, whose manager trick him to get a turkish nacionality he didn't want without even living in the country.

Wow, the Men's hurdles are also unkind to the favorites at the US trials, David Oliver didn't start in the final and Aries Merritt finished fourth.

Women's Javelin Throw: Maggie Malone, Kara Winger, Brittany Borman (Hannah Carson finished 2nd but didn't have the standard)

Men's Triple Jump: Will Claye, Christian Taylor, Chris Benard

Men's 5000m: Bernard Lagat, Hassan Mead, Paul Chelimo

Men's 200m: Justin Gatlin, LaShawn Merritt, Ameer Webb

Men's 110m Hurdles: Devon Allen, Ronnie Ash, Jeff Porter

Alfonz Juck our commentator and one of the most known athletics manager in the world said that it´s not over yet at all, apparentlly there already a lot of Kenyans receiving Turkish citizenship in the past weeks and months, and just waiting for competing eligibility from IAAF

    • Earlier today, Taiwan beat the USA    Of course it's car from the best US tram but it's still a big deal for Taiwanese baseball
    • And even here we lose to France? I really don't know what's the point of organizing the Olympics if you can't make progress in practically any sport. France has the Olympics in 2030 and there they will definitely prepare 100%, just like for Paris. We can't do that. It's obvious that in ski jumping we have no chance of winning medals, but decency dictates that we should at least win here with a France like that.
    • There is no snow in Lillehammer
    • Finally the ski jumping season begins 11 teams in the (real) mixed team competition, no Switzerland.
    • Most of our athletes are constantly bothered by something: the pressure to qualify, the miss of pressure when they have already qualified, etc. It's the same in football: at the beginning of the season they are a poor form becouse of a little played and at the end of the season they are tired. They are always looking for excuses. A real champion always plays at a high level, like Sinner, and doesn`t look for 1000 excuses for his poor performance.
    • Think it is mentally difficult for the two teams with the Olympic place guaranteed and the pressure off, whereas everyone else is absolutely playing at 110%.  I'm sure things will be better once they get to Milan.
    • There's no point in cheating, these were terrible European Championships for us. Retronaz out of form, Constantini with a huge number of big mistakes. Only illness can excuse it... We've probably lost the last 10 matches with Switzerland... It looks like Constantini had the tournament of her life in mixed doubles in 2022 in Beijing and she will never reach this level again.
    • What good is it to us if we took 4th place and lost an important match? If Constantini was sick, I forgive her, but I'm afraid that the Italian team will not exceed a certain level. Yes, they have made progress since 2022, but they lack that one decisive step to become a class team. Here we lost all important matches with teams at our/higher level: Sui x2, Sco x2, Swe. We only won with the one we were supposed to win with. I don't believe in a medal for this team in Cortina. After 2022, it seemed that Constantini could dominate women's curling, but it didn't happen that way. After Sinner's recent successes, I opened my eyes a bit and started to demand more from our athletes, coaches, and officials. I have no intention of being satisfied with 4th place, because with this approach, you won't achieve anything great.
    • play their best, but only get 1, so  get bronze 6-4!
    • Oh dear, once again a 50% shot from Constantini when she needed 100%.   blank the end & go into the 10th with the Hammer of Thor.
