Continental Cup points are only optional IF there won't be 50 athletes from 20 nations qualified from the World Cup + Summer GP ranking points (technically 45 + 1 from Italy and the last four places 'prioritised' for nations with only one athlete qualified to make duets possible i.e. Estonia). -

thanks for the info well, I guess he already paid a tough prize to bad luck, so I wish him all the best (but to finish the next races behind the Italians, especially at the Olympic Games ) surely, he'll be one of the main skaters to watch in the future -

In your opinion, is this trials system good or bad? What if it were abolished and people were given the chance to qualify through the World Cup, or, say, the earlier World Championships? A gold medalist would then have more free decision and could only aim for top form at the Olympics, not on trails in December. -
I mean, Canada also has its own trials and they are about as competitive as the US trials. The Dutch trials are absolutely the most competitive ones in the world by far fwiw. But both the US and Canada have more centralized and relaxed training environments than the Netherlands. That’s something Carlijn Schoutens talked about too. -

Looking at their internal qualifications, it doesn't surprise me... Although in the USA they also have their own trials, and they're probably even more brutal than in Ned. -
Bloemen is an interesting case because he was genuinely not going to get anywhere in the Netherlands. It seems like he needed to be a big fish in a small(et) pound. He’s been pretty open about how moving to Canada basically saved his career.

Regarding Brignone, the latest news is that the president of Fisi, the Italian ski federation, has said he would advise her to return just to the Olympics, without competing in any World Cup events in January. This likely means the SG and Gigant events, without downhill. In any case, her spot will wait until the very end without having to participate in the internal World Cup qualifiers on team of Italy. -
I think they have noticed because there is no update after the competition today. Bad timing because Japan is down to three male ski jumpers and only Austria and Germany are left with four. China "got back" their sole male quota and the potential mixed team. -

In my opinion, someone did a bad job with the first surgery – I don't know where she had it done. Fortunately, the Italian federation has an excellent medical staff and a contract with Dr. Panziermi – he's already saved Goggia and her career several times. Now, he performed a brilliant operation on Brignone knee (at the very beginning she was dangerous with amputation leg under the knee!!!). 20- 30 years ago, many Italian skiers had to end their careers early due to bad done surgeries, including superstars like Deborah Compagnoni.
