I wonder why Edival Pontes of Brazil didn't participate here ?! injured or something ? I had him as one of medal contenders in Tokyo.

 

btw by not participating here he probably put himself in a very tough situation in the ranking. (and therefore the Olympic seeding)

Day 1 results of African Championsip

today was the penultimate day of the 2021 Asian Taekwondo Championships and Afghanistan won the gold medal in men's 58kg by "Mohsen Rezaee"

 

I believe this is their first ever continental gold medal in an Olympic sport.

 

the guy had a walkover in the semifinal but still he beat South Korea in the final which is huge. he was supposed to participate at the Asian OQT but he couldn't because of that COVID problem the whole Afghan team was facing.

 

unfortunately for Mr Rezaei, Japan picked this weight to use its host quota, so no Tripartite invitation quota is available for him. if someone deserves some kind of special Wild Card, that's him not those cheaters in the so called "refugee team".

actually there's a women world championship will start on Thursday in Riyadh KSA , only for women and it's G4 tournament

Hedaya Malak won't participate , she still didn't make her decision whether to continue sport or not , she already has 2 Olympic medals , Egypt will participate with a very young team one of them i'm really looking for watching is shahd samy in women's -49 kg
