Prediction Contest

Rules: The game is simple. Every day, I'll post a few questions in the opening post of each thread and if you're playing, you post your answers to the questions below. Whoever gets the most questions right at the end of the Olympics wins. You can change your answers as many times as you like as long as the first event hasn't begun and you can join anytime.

1. Freestyle Skiing: Will we see a Canadian in the women's ski cross big final? (4 athletes compete in the big final)

And now let's do something a bit different.

2. Ice Hockey: Pick a Canadian player in the game against Finland. If this player finishes with a positive +/-, then you will receive a point. If this player finishes with a +/- of 0, you will receive no points. If this player finishes with a negative +/-, YOU WILL LOSE A POINT. You can find the team roster here. If you don't know what +/- is, you can read about it here

3. Short Track: How many Canadian gold medals will we see in tonight's short track session (Men's 5000m relay and Women's 1500m are scheduled)

*Tuesday's question for aerial's and yesterday's question for halfpipe will also be carried over to today. You may change your answer if you wish.

Standings:

1. intoronto - 24

2. orangeman, Safe Dragonfly - 23

3. CanadaWolvesFC, james89, Topicmaster1010 - 21

4. BenAffleckIsAnOkActor - 20

5. SGAxJamal - 18

6. Josh - 16

7. George_D - 11

8. Surlympics - 3

Yesterday's Answers:

Spoiler

1. Speed Skating: Which Canadian will finish with the highest rank in the men's 1500m?

David La Rue. He finished 15th while Daniel Hall finished 23rd.

2. Ice Hockey: Over/Under 1.5 goals scored by Canada in the gold medal game.

Under. Canada only scored 1 goal in the gold medal game.

The schedule and standings have been updated.

Here's a brief overview of medal chances today:

Short Track (Women's 1500m and Men's 5000m Relay): Courtney Sarault goes for her 5th medal of these Games and will look to win her 1st career Olympic Gold. Danae Blais and Kim Boutin are also entered but their medal chances are slim. The men's relay is also looking to win back to back Olympic gold medals.

Men's Aerials: Canada has 4 athletes entered here. Of the 4, Miha Fontaine would probably be the best bet to medal as he's been in great form this year and is coming off his first World Cup podium. Lewis Irving and Emile Nadeau are also capable of making the podium on their best days.

Men's Freeski Halfpipe: Brendan Mackay and Andrew Longino are the names to watch here. Longino won his 2nd career World Cup Medal this season and is the only Canadian to make the podium so far this season. Brendan Mackay has had an injury riddled season but if he's at full health here, he can challenge for gold.

Women's Ski Cross: Been a rough season for the Canadian women's ski cross team with 3 of the top 5 athletes out for the year with injury. However, Marielle Thompson seems to be peaking at the right time coming off of two world cup podiums. Hannah Schmidt could also challenge for the podium.

Speed Skating: Ivanie Blondin is an outside shot for a medal in this event. She won one World Cup medal during the World Cup this season.

And also as important, we have the semi-finals for men's hockey and women's curling.
