Athletics EAA Under 23 European Championships 2025

Fun high jump competition. Melwin Lycke Holm, Sweden, son of Olympia champ Stefan Holm almost A ver much surprising winner After 2.22 with air and no misses. But the polish Guy barely also makes the height and with even more luck italian Sioli makes 2.22 in the 3rd attempt with a very much shaking bar. Holm even makes 2.24 with Margin. But suddenly Sioli is good enough for 2.30, and the polish Guy with PB 2.18 has two very close attempts on 2.30 After a new Pb of 2.26!!

4th for :GRE Anastasia Dragomirova in the Heptathlon after 5th in the Shot Put a few days ago, a bit disappointing to not get a medal but she'll be happy with the new U23NR in Heptathlon (slightly improving her own from a few weeks ago) and new PB in Shot Put

Unfortunately, her track performances are still super weak, but she is slowly improving them which is good. Her PBs in the field events are already possibly good enough to win an Olympic medal in the Heptathlon, but her track results are so, so poor.

She is definitely on the right track again after several years of injuries and struggles, but she really needs to focus on cutting her times down in the track events to even have a chance of qualifying for the Olympics.

I do think there is also plenty of room for improvement in long jump (her PB is from 2019 when she was 16) and high jump (her PB is from 2020 when she was 17) and she was very close to both of them this season.

Lastly, she has also been gaining a lot of attention for her appearance. Personally I don't like the many tattoos, piercings, and crazy makeup but if she can continue to bring better results then she can do whatever she wants :p

The best reason to move away from the heptathlon to the decathlon is precisely because the hept has an inbuilt bias - 4 events to 3 - towards sprint events over strength events.

A good tournament for Dutch athletes. After years of female talent, we finally have some male talent. All the Dutch medals were won by men. I find Jonas Phijffers's victory in the 400 meters in 44.82 the most remarkable. Today in the relay, he ran like a Femke Bol to the finish in a split of 43.79 (4th place). It's great to finally have another Dutch talent in the 400 meters. Niels Laros also had a great tournament, winning the 800 and 5000 meters. Now let's hope he also makes a breakthrough at the international level. The same goes for Stefan Nillessen (gold in the 1500 meters, silver in the 3000 meters steeplechase).

Breakthrough? He finished 6th in the Olympic 1500 metres final, and recently won his first Diamond League race.
