The never ending Aquatics World Championships continue, this time from Southeast Asia. 15-20 years ago these had the pedigree of one of the sporting spectacles of the year, where each event winner felt like a real superstar. There was anticipation months in advance. But FINA did a fabulous job at devaluing them in the last 5 years to "Oh it's that time of the year again" and "let's see which swimmers will skip them this time".

Not exactly though, even then there were already way too many events and distances, making it easy at the end of the championships to forget who actually won which 100m or 200m (or, not unlikely, won the double considering they're often just similar).

Swimming has WAY too many distances and strokes to even have the chance for every event winner feeling like a superstar. Just go to one backstroke, one breaststroke, one butterfly stroke and so on. Or be bold and scrap them altogether, making swimming simply about who can swim X meters the fastest, period  (instead of making it about who can swim X meters in unnatural stroke Y the fastest)

Something is not right here with CRO in the given tables.

it says that there are a total of 9 competitors, 8 men and 1 woman.

When listing individually by name, it turns out 10 men and 1 woman

Has Kajtazi gotten married in the meantime?

Out of curiosity, are you one of the people who think Pan Zhanle's WR in 100m free was more impressive than Marchand's 4 Golds in non-freestyle events ?

I didn't know that discussion was a thing :p

Hard to say. Marchand's versatility is amazing, of course, but then again, Pan's WR arguably made him the actual fastest swimmer ever, which might be more impressive than "the fastest ever person to swim a certain distance in a very specific and limited style". It's a dangerous discussion though, since saying one or the other is more impressive can easily be interpreted as saying the other performance is not impressive, so to be clear: both are extremely impressive :p
