Three straight steals and it's 4-2 :USA over :CHN at the break, China with hammer.

 

A few misses by the back end of the Chinese team is all that's differentiated the two teams.

Team Casper is headed to Milan-Cortina!!

 

Lots of misses by China throughout the match, some of which were just bad luck.  Thrilled for Danny and company.  Glad they don't have to play another game

Rich Ruohonen qualifying for the Olympics as an alternate is kind of a cool story. Old school curling guy who's been in the American scene for decades, with a ton of runner up finishes at US nationals, making his Olympic debut at 54.

 

Also very happy for my fellow Washingtonians Luc Violette and Ben Richardson.

Whew!  That last rock had my heart beating! 8-4 going into End 10

 

Their strategy for End 10: "Hit a rock if you see a rock"

Hats off to Norway on a great competition, but happy for our women.  :)  (It is a little sad knowing that our win means Norway doesn't make it, as I know they've worked hard and wanted it it bad as well...but thus is sport!)

      Back in the 1970s, in the USA, it was called “Modern Rhythmic Gymnastics”   Coming back to edit this, since the sport was miniscule in the USA at that time, it’s probably how the FIG referred to it as well.

      Although she did win bronze, I would add 1972 OG - Janet Lynn 4th in figures, 1st in FS.  Trixi Schuba,  1st in figures, 7th in FS.   And another one to add - 1984 Brian Orser  7-1-1.  Scott Hamilton 1-2-2.
