Swoboda in 4th but I can live with bronze for :LUX van der Weken :)

it would of felt so wrong if Weken wouldn't have gotten any medal.

We can criticize winter sports, e.g. short track, but there are no such circuses with DSQ as in Athletics, where DSQ are imposed and then withdrawn and so on several times. Is it really impossible to systematize it somehow and make final decisions at once?

:NED women's 4x400 was briefly DQ for obstruction on the Peeters changeover but quickly reinstated after appeal :coffee:

Watching it live I thought there could be a DQ, but I doubt Anning would have beat Bol anyway. I don't know why GB was in lane 1 anyway as they were never ahead of the Dutch.

From a biased hat I would say definite DQ and that had it been any other country, that would have been the case, but sometimes you've got to take a step back and look at the bigger picture.

I have to congratulate the Dutch on hosting an exceptional championships and they deserve all the sporting successes that came with it.

It's not several times - 1 decision & 1 appeal, that's all.

Didn't they copy the UK system? They even gave it the same name: Team NL vs Team GB.

That's enough to cause confusion and delay decisions: foe example in Paris in women`s 5km, Batocletti came fourth, then got the bronze, then lost it at the end and the news came late at night. In short track, the final decision is made a few minutes after the race at most, and there's no situation where medals are awarded or taken away hours after the competition.

    • Assuming Venezuela loses and gives up 4+ runs, Canada just needs PR to lose and give up 9 or more runs in a 9 inning or less game. I hadn't realized one of their games went to 10 innings before. I think it's possible, but we'll have to wait and see.
