While still most people is focused on US OPEN in its final phase, next week my city is hosting a WTA500 (formerly a WTA1000) tournament.

Not the biggest nanes of course, but still some that will catch the attention of the public, which this time haven’t flocked to buy tickets (really overpriced this time around).

Still for those of you who enjoy to drink cocktails, here I leave the official drink of the tournament called “Pink Spirit”

Ingredients:

2 oz grapefruit juice

1 oz guava syrup/juice

1 oz lime juice

2 oz 100% “reposado” (aged) tequila

Pegula beat Krejcikova yesterday and Sabalenka received a walkover from Vondrousova who got injured during practice.

Amanda Anisimova takes revenge for the Wimbledon final and beats Iga Świątek 6-4 6-3!

Final QF still remaining.

Women's final is set. Aryna Sabalenka (1) vs :USA Amanda Anisimova (8) so a rematch of that epic Wimbledon SF. Anisimova has had quite a rise this season living up to the teenage promise!

Just back from the 1st day of Prudential Open in Hong Kong - the hottest ticket of the day was to see :PHI Alexandra Eala in the doubles.

This was scheduled on court 1 - which can only hold a couple of hundred spectators - so those who couldn't get a seat took over the top couple of rows in the east stand of centre court to watch over the wall. Led to some ill timed applause.

Will be interesting to see how she gets on when she takes on :GBR Katie Boulter. Last year, Boulter had the majority of the crowd on her side for the final against Diana Shnaider but I don't think that will be the case tomorrow.

    • My guess is Women’s football is where we will see some players refusing to go to the Olympics in protest at having to take a test. Feels like that’s one here they are some biological women who would do that. Maybe a few others    Could be the odd country where legal or political challenges cause issue for events. Particularly ones where local authorities have more power as urban ones where majority of sporting event are held more likely to be left wing and liberal.
