Athletics WA Grand Slam Track League 2025

The hurdle events don’t work for having a flat race.  It’s not mixing people with different skills in the way the other events do. It’s the biggest flaw alongside doing it in a stadium where have the races start with trees behind the runners which doesn’t make it feel epic.

Once again I find watching hurdlers running flat races quite boring.

It's also just utter nonsense. A sprint competition with athletes running a 100 and 200, fine, or a middle-distance with them running 800 and 1500. But a 100 and a 110/100m hurdles is just....weird. And then actually calling it 'short hurdles', when literally half of the combination does not involve hurdles.

The exception that confirms it by being exactly that: an exception :p

Honestly, it'd even be fine if they called it sort of an 'allround sprint' or whatever, instead of calling the combination 'short hurdles', suggesting the combination consists of, well, short hurdle races.

Think that the sport has changed over the last 40 years, and is now much more specialised.  Back in ye olden days of the 80s it was absolutely routine for hurdlers to double up at least enough to do a decent 4x100m leg, 200m runners to do a 4x400m, and of course the classic 800m/1500m or 5000m/10000m.
