Athletics WA World Championships 2025

"BEAMISH-FINISH" was so fun to watch. Indoor 1500 before and now this, brilliant, just brilliant.

Africa threw it away. But when you run 8:30+ only once in a season, cause you ALWAYS go faster, you just don't have any experience how such a finish looks like.

Maybe they should ask for those lights around the track for 8:30 in some meetings - just for practice heh

In last 2 summer OG you have winning more medals than Germany- your bigger neighbor- you must have a good system, because on paper you shouldn't stand a chance against them: smaller population, lower GDP, less tradition, etc. So either you're that strong, or they're that weak, or maybe both? On paper, Italy also had no right to finish ahead of Germany in the medal table in 2024, but that's what happened.

Imagine if things were actually run smoothly, instead of the judo federation destroying judo by centralizing everything, other federations thinking "hey, that centralization thing went like shit...maybe we'll try that too" and things like the athletics federation covering up sexual misconduct because whoever did it is more important for a medal.

Anyhow, athletics :p Too bad there was no morning session, but the evening session is once again looking quite interesting, especially the hurdles.

Of all the sessions to accidentally sleep in for

What an exhilarating session that was to watch!

I honestly think yesterday was one of the most amazing days of athletics I've ever seen :d

Gold for :TAN Alphonce Simbu, gold for :SUI Ditaji Kambundji, gold for :NZL Geordie Beamish, Duplantis' WR...from left to right it was just astonishing :d

If Polish sport was 50% well-organized like Dutch one we would be like Aussies or sth😉

I say today’s hurdles will have a surprise winner like yesterday. :old:

But if i went to bookies, i would do the exact opposite of what i think. History says That tactics should work just fine.

No Barshim and no Tamberi in high jump final. What a strange feeling. Sad.

Those were the days… and i don’t mean Tokyo. I mean their super-high jumps at their best

Dutch commentator to his co-commentator in lap 1: "Can I quickly mention one name? Beamish, if it keeps going this slow. Good sprint."

:d

Lucky you. You have good commentators.

Yesterday we had our "not-so-dream-team" (Babiarz+Chmara). At the last barrier (less than 100m to go) one of them said: Beamish is going for SILVER  ehhh... and at this point you could see it's gonna be gold, you really could see. ehhh....

Btw, anybody knows how far it is from the last barrier to the final in the 3k steeple? How long is this finish  exactly?

    • this is not funny at all, pal
    • I think I can live with the draw , not a bad group at all. just a week ago our mafia coach said his dream group is Belgium, Egypt and Haiti, he almost got that !   but it's really hard for me (and so many others) to cheer for this team, A mafia boss coach, disgusting group of players. I never had this feeling about any NT in any sport before but still the national team is the national team. you have to like it  coaches and players come and go, the team is what matters.   if the team makes it to the competition, I'm sure there will be lots of Iranians in the stadium despite the orange's ban, that will never be a problem.
    • Belgium is the luckiest in this story
    • One of the worst possible draw for us. Group really easy but having to face  or  in the Round of 32 is devastating.
    • Always dreamed Gretzky will draw Slovakia was another moment I can already remove from my things to do before die list
    • Finland have been awful in almost all winter sports, well beside ice hockey and cross-country from time to time, for a lot of years. It's very good to see them building people to challenge for wins again. Their new coach has done wonders it seems.
    • 14th June in Philadelphia against Cote d´Ivoire   20th June inToronto against Curacao   and 25th June in Philadeplphia to kick out  home    Not easy, but not the most difficult group. Should be okay. Vamos
