IAAF was/is more to blame for that by dealing with the whole situation in such a lackluster way for years.

 

But anyway, I think we can at least agree on the statement that there have not been many more divisive situations in athletics in the past 20 years, so it's not like we're going to suddenly get to an agreement now anyway.

 

Luckily there are shoes with springs in them nowadays to create those hypes around record attempts.
