the point is that many "summer" skaters just don't want to try the ice because they have too much to give up for that

 

you name places like Collalbo or Baselga, but for the "summer skating" guys from centeral and southern regions it's not an option, it's not that they make it for a living with those disciplines, they have to focus on their studies and build a post-competitive sport career and they just can't place themselves into a hole in the mountains when they maybe are studying in some prestigious universities in the big cities

that would have given all the "summer skaters" a true opportunity to try the ice experience and at the same time find the most useful, attractive, prestigious places to continue their studies and try and manage them together with their sports career

second...don't give Salvini any credit he doesn't deserve...actually, I think he doesn't even know that in Cortina there's a sliding sports track 

 

it's not thanks to him that the Cortina track's building finally went underway 

I try to be objective and if Salvini does one good thing in his political life, so I can appreciate it  From what I remember, Malago has already announced that the competition will be abroad (St. Moritz or Innsbruck), then there was an option from Cesana which Tajani from FI lobbied for and at the very end Salvini unexpectedly forced a return to the Cortina option with a light version. Mainly because people associated with Lega govern in Veneto (Zaia). Zaia has repeatedly emphasized that without the bobsleigh competitions in Cortina, these games are not profitable for the city. That's all I remember from this story. The government of Conte and then Draghi failed more here, doing nothing with the preparations for the games, which is why so much time was lost. The center-right government is defective but at least their ambition didn`t allow them to run away with the bobsleigh abroad. I think Draghi or Renzi would agree to this, to have peace.

Tragic performance of the Italian women's team - last place and probably something bad happened at the start. There are so few starts in the team that it will be a problem to even qualify for the World Championships - 8 best teams. After Lollobrigida's return and Fontana's addition, I was counting on much more, but it seems that there are too few joint trainings. With individual quality, we have no right to lose to the Czechs without Sablikova, or anonymous Korea. And unfortunately this start will count for a lot, because there are only 2 more and our chances of playing at the World Championships are minimal. In my opinion with Fontana going from Short Track to Long Trackand vice versa, we won't be much use in the team. Here great teamwork is needed, not improvisation. As of today, there is very little chance that we will qualify the women's team for the games.

I`m very disappointed with this weekend. Only becouse of Ghiotto form I`m happy. Unfortunately, the women's team will not function well if Lollobrigida skips most of the training camps and Fontana starts alternately in short tack and long track. It will end with her not winning any medals here or there, because it`s already clear that it will be very difficult to achieve good results in long track. I hope that she understands this, because in short track she has a real chance of winning medals in the women's relay and the mixed relay but in long track not.
