Sprint Canoeing ICF World Championships 2024

That was :RUS Zakhar Petrov falling out of his boat like 1 meter before the finish of the C1 500m final. Could have won, hard to say because it was super close, now it's a DNF.

So weird, I clearly saw in the results that he finished first

Bring back the 1991 borders

In the live results on screen? Because that could be explained by his boat crossing the line first, I assume the live system doesn't have a check in place to see if someone is still in the boat. Didn't see a replay yet though..

On ICF page. Petrov's coach said there were two protests and finally he has DNF

Huh, interesting. Those protests were done quickly, because like 1 minute after the finish he was already listed as DNF :p (I think my post was not much more than 5 minutes after the final)

totally unnoticed that Ivan Shtyl won his 18th world championship gold medal. I'm trying to find out if anyone else has been close to that

Dame Lisa Marie Carrington for sure mopped the floor with Shtyl, having 23 combined golds from Olympics + WChs (8+15), while Shtyl has only one medal from the Olympics and it's not gold.

sure, but I was talking about world championships, and men's canoe has less events than women's kayak at Olympics

also Shtyl's winning career extends for 18 years - that's such a huge achievement

    • It’s honestly baffling how bad she was in 2018. Just absolutely lost her head. Real shame too because she is so gifted. I do hope Li Jianrou sends her a Christmas card every year tho, she was absolutely gifted a gold medal by Christie in 2014.
    • Oh I’m not done yet, unfortunately. From the names that could be back but are still injured   Courtney Hoffos Mikael Kingsbury (should be back before the Olympics) Connor Howe (he returned, but nowhere close to his best so his injury is still giving him issues) Connor Bedard Meryeta O’Dine Megan Oldham
