:NED Van De Zandschulp defeats :ESP Alcaraz 6-1, 7-5, 6-4 in R2 :yikes:

Obviously he hasn’t been the same ever since his loss to Djokovic in the Olympic final, but at the very least you’d think he’d at the very least be able to take a set or two.

One of the major surprises this year. Beating Alcaraz, Van de Zandschulp has now a possible long road in US Open. At least 2 more rounds he can beat everyone because all his possible opponents from now on are very beatable till Quarterfinals.

Djokovic's defeat means for the first time since 2002 we'll have a calendar year without Federer, Nadal or Djokovic winning at least one of the Grand Slams on the men's side :coffee:

This sounds like excellent news :d

Not 'against' them, but simply because having different winners is good. I'm sure the last one hasn't been won yet for Djokovic, and next time at the Australian Open the whole 'can he write history!?' will just go on repeat again, but generally this seems like a good development for the sport itself.

If you'd like to help our fellow Totallympics member Bruna Moura get to the 2026 Winter Olympics, after her car crash on the way to the 2022 Olympics, every tiny bit of help would be greatly appreciated! Full story and how to help can be found here!
