Well, Sasak barely played at these Champs and suddenly when he was needed in a bigger role, he looked rusty. This is sometimes a problem with some coaches who barely rotate the squad during a tournament and let's be honest, Poland had a very favorable schedule so we could have given Sasak more playing time in the earlier matches. And yeah, he was voted as VNL best spiker so he should have been ready for the biggest stage.

 

It's not for the first time when the VNL results ring hollow. Even our media talked about it before as how serious the other top nations treat VNL in first place.

Sasak is a bit similiar to Romano in Italy – he will never be a dominant OPP, but more of a complement of the roster. Kurek was a dominant OPP, but a few years ago. I was sure he would leave NT after the 2024 OG silver medal. Previously, Wlazły was a very good and solid OPP in Poland NT, but that was over 10 years ago.

Fun fact: Italy and Bulgaria have played their first official match this season and tomorrow will play their last one. That first match took place in the regular season of the VNL in Canada on 11th June, when Italy won 3-1.

Read correctly. Polish team was terrible, yours was slightly better but still week. Take deep breath. Check stats. It should be a match for second league in Polish or Italian league for both teams. I think the season was too long for main teams and WC are too latw / I wish Bulgaria gold because of the quality in this tournament and they deserve this. This was not "early final" that was a big tragedy and bad covarage of level of volleyball. I know we have 2 main players seriously injured (Fornal and Kurek) and Sliwka (not in team). But still. For me Czech could gain this medal, it is worthless.

That team was a better quality.

Romano was very important person in this match.

I remember the 2011 European Championships and the matach Poland-Russia for a bronze medal match. Poland won, I think, 3-1, and someone from Russian players said, "A bronze medal is a worthless piece of a metal." I don't like that approach- every medal and every result should be respected, because in a few years later, such successes may only be a dream.

At least, unlike Ivan Zaytsev, he never refused to play for the national team because of a sponsor.

I watched plenty of matches from 2004 plus I was at OG / soms events. We have a long many lost 1/4 at OG. I was with this team. But this medal I do not care. They have just one task. One more time the worst shape during main event and long season makes many injures for main players. It was like Final with France in Paris. No quality. It is hard to enjoy this broze and watch this final. It will be nice experiance for Czechs. We were world champions.
