So a we have got a new scandal.

 

Luge qualification ends this week BUT it turned out that FIL extened period of qualification exclusively for russians. Th

 

They need this to have necessary number of runs. Otherwise they are not eligible for the Olympic quotas.

(let me remind that they missed 1st World Cup stage due to their own decision and the second because did not bother to get visas eralier).

 

It means that several NOCs will not receive their fair quotas. 

 

FIL ethics body started investigation:

“I confirm receipt of your report dated January 9, 2026. In accordance with my duties, I will initiate an investigation and inform you of the results without further inquiry upon its completion,” replied Karl-Friedrich Schauhoff.

Unfortunately, the last paragraph of C. Athlete eligibility works in favor of the neutral athletes. The only question might be if all procedures to give Russians the extension were followed accordingly.

I really do not but you may be right - it could about procedures.

 

As far as I can understand some athlete fighting foq quoata (not ffrom Ukraine) tried to figureout if the actions of FIL were legal and did not get proper answer from them. We will see soon.
