2024 Paralympics - August 28 - September 8

Recommended Posts

Wheelchair rugby team defeats Germany 54-47. Game wasn’t close at all, so we had some of our starters (including Madell) rest for at least part of the match

Men’s wheelchair basketball team down 39-41 to France at the half

Seriously, what happened to this team.

Canada had a great second half and won!

Both Amanda Rummery and Brent Lakatos advance to their respective finals

Lakatos hung with Hug in his heat :hyper:

Or maybe he eased up a bit?

I'm watching the replay now. Looks like they were both working together for most of the race since they were well ahead of the field. Like what happens in a cycling race.

Time for Day 3 of the Paralympics!

Guillaume Ouellet in the men’s 5000m T13 (final at 1:14 AM PST/4:14 AM EST), Mel Pemble in women’s 500m time trial C1-3 (final at 4:35 AM PST/7:35 AM EST) are all medal chances but our biggest chance today is probably Nicholas Bennett in men’s 200m freestyle S14 (final at 8:34 AM PST/11:34 AM EST). There’s a chance for a multi-medal performance too, with Danielle Dorris and Tess Routliffe in women’s 200m individual medley SM7. (final at 11:10 AM PST/2:10 PM EST)

Why the hell doesn’t CBC sports get the streaming rights to pretty much everything? :mumble::whistle:

Wanted to watch para archery now, but nope.

VPN doesn’t work as a solution, my computer is getting fixed.

    • For the summary and lowlights of Thailand's preparation in hosting the ongoing Sea Games, I kindly suggest those who are interested to read from this English language article from Thai media outlet, Thai Enquirer: https://www.thaienquirer.com/63469/thailands-sea-games-2025-under-fire-budget-management-and-technical-controversies/
    • It's all hogwash especially in the short attention span generation. Like nobody cares about Free Tibet anymore either. Free Palestine will last a lot longer due to Saudi Arabia becoming a sponsorship force in sports.   Israel is too weak in soccer to qualify from UEFA zone. The only time they qualified was from the Asian zone and they only beat Australia & New Zealand who were complete nobodies in the 1960s. No such luck in the 60 years since.
    • Oh I assure you FIFA dodger a bullet with Israel not qualifying…   But ya that’s kind of the thing, shut up and dribble is a mantra anti LGBT people have used often. I don’t think it’s hypocritical to remind them of their position
    • Ah, yes but that's not how pro athletes are taught in North America these days? Shut up & dribble is xenophobic, racist or whatever? The hypocrisy of some of these policies were exposed during 2022 World Cup already where the Saudis played it smart and waved their own "Free Palestine' slogans. Forget LGBT rights for a moment, how many 'Free Palestine' flags will be waved in 2026? Or will those be confiscated by default? Somehow I feel this won't be met with similar backlash when China clamped down on 'Free Tibet' in 2008 OG. Saudi Arabia is more important to global markets than Iran & Egypt
    • Wisła Płock just assumed 1st position after five consecutive draws. Must be first time ever a team on a five match winless streak actually moves up to league top.
    • Well ya, which is why the Egyptian and Iranian teams can shut up and dribble :P
    • The problem is, the World Cup is not a local event. Overall it's another storm in a teacup. LGBT rights in Muslim countries won't change a damn inch becuse of one soccer match in Seattle
