Shooting at Paris Olympics

Recommended Posts

Yea NRAI deserves massive credit. One of the best run federation. Perhaps the only criticism of the trial system was not having 8 shooters in each category. I am certain, they will make it next time, as the talent pool will only increase.

Also don’t forgot Sift & Manu (25m) are still left. We could well end with 4/5 medals in shooting. Shooting will exceed most predictions.

Hi @Fly_like_a_don @nitinsanker @Roamingrover86 @tirtha22 @sounak  @thala07fan just did a simple comparison of qualification scores compared to Tokyo and Paris. The green line represents the minimum qualification score required to qualify for final and India 1 and India 2 represents the top scores by Indian shooters first and second respectively. Significant improvement were seen in Rifle for all 4 shooters

This phenomenon is common for our athletes. Every Olympics we are used to this phenomenon, it is called “Olympics Phenomenon “ where athletes becomes cold feet & cannot perform. Nothing surprise us anymore.

    • There will be specialized double sculls...just not for an NOC if it is entering singles specialists.   Either enter 2 singles specialists, or 1 XD specialist pair.   But they can in theory compete in both events, I guess, if they qualify...our top M, I think, does both.   But there are 17M, 17W, and 30 Pairs allotted in the quota, so I don't think the intent is that every singles entry will be in doubles.   (Perhaps this gets to fall in line with Weightlifting, where due to max entry quota, an NOC can't enter in every event, even if they have the best athletes...here, unless you have a pair who qualifies in both.)

    • I read the Olympic qualification documents for weightlifting. A country can have the opportunity to send a maximum of 4 athletes in one gender, but the conditions are very strict.
    • world champion Jessica Schilder opened her season up with 19.78 in France.
    • wait! what???   so, there won't be specialized double sculls, but those boats would have to feature 2 single specialists if a Nation wants to enter 2 proper singles M+W??? tell me I misread the expalaination...
    • Yeah, they do get broadcast pretty regularly.  I remember even back in Bode Miller's day they would show the training.
