Pyeongchang Winter Olympic Games 2018 News

Maybe South Koreans are a little like Americans, buying their tickets on the day before or the day of the event instead of months in advance :p

Oh well, I doubt the Koreans will give two fucks about cross-country skiing so I'm still hopeful I might be able to get tickets for that in January when I know whether or not I want to go to the Olympics.

don't worry...South Koreans are only going to buy some tickets for those events where they are supposed to win medals...

they won't spend a cent on events where's no strong participation of their athletes...

and with the political situation going on up North of the border, I guess that very few "Western" people are going to fly to Pyeongchang...

so, I guess that, if the Olympics will really go on stage in february in South Korea (and I'm not sure we can take it for granted right now), we will see many events contested in front of just the athletes' relatives (or maybe not even them)...

It's very similar to Daegu 2011. For some reason Koreans like to organize the events that don't interest their people.

Sounds like if I'm going (which would mean my best friend is participating) I'm going to have to bring some Brazilian flags to make it all look a bit more exotic :d

Maybe bring some air horns and stuff and hand them out to people around me :p

I might be going as well! If we meet, definitely at the Women's 10km. I'll try getting a Brazilian flag...

South Koreans do everything last minute. So give it time. Also Toronto 2015 had sold similar amount of tickets at 5 months to go but it was the best attended Pan Am Games ever. Give it time, and it will work.

I wonder what was the ticket sale percentage 5 months before Rio? If I remember well, there were also assurances that Brazilians will buy more tickets later, but we ended up with a lot of empty stadiums.

Wonderful plan! :d

If Bruna qualifies, I guess she can only compete in the 10k and sprint, so the rest doesn't matter as much for me. If she doesn't qualify, I'll definitely stay home :p

well, it´s hard to buy for example a hockey ticket, when fans still don´t know when their team will play..as there absolutely not a single mention ANYWHERE when they are supposed to FINALLY create this tournament schedule...

It's 10k OR sprint, actually.

    • Many things, probably they thought it is already over and the win will come itself... but also Nitra improved their play a lot, they outplayed us in physicality in the last 2 games, they won almost every duel. Was hard to watch. Anyway I am still persuated we will finish the job at home with success on Tuesday
    • If you look at their results this season and on the Super Series, it’s not really that surprising.    I’d consider them to be medal contenders.
    • At one point it seemed we were making good progress in this sport, but in the past 1-2 years things seem to have hit a standstill..   Ivaylo Ivanov is still our only elite judoka, but he is passing 30. There were/are some promising youngsters, but they haven't been able to make a jump to the senior level. At this Euro we barely had any first round wins (not including Ivanov). In fencing and taekwondo the results are much more visible for us.
    • yes, but that's only an (important) episode... I mean, what's up with your team more in general...it looks like they got the classic "fear to win", they're not as brilliant as they were in the early games of the series
    • after a few leagues ended well before the true climax, now we have both leagues from the good, old Czechoslovakia going to game #7    shame that both games will be at the exact same time
