Bearas 542 Posted May 28, 2024 #93 Share Posted May 28, 2024 So many upsets in Lithuanian team. Everyone was hyping our female boxers after winning gold in Worlds and medals in Europeans that we will finally debut in women's boxing, but seems we'll have to wait another 4 years... 1 Lithuanian boxer left standing with not a lot of chance to get through.. konig 1 Link to comment https://totallympics.com/forums/topic/27291-boxing-ioc-olympic-qualifier-2-2024/page/10/#findComment-632432 Share on other sites

avlar 372 Posted May 29, 2024 #96 Share Posted May 29, 2024 (edited) Walsh "beated" Zakhareev - clear robbery. Khartsyz has ane even bout against Cuban - it was 50/50 decision. Very bad day for us. Especially with that robbery in favour of Walsh. He did not win that bout at all. Illya 519 Posted May 29, 2024 #97 Share Posted May 29, 2024 I mean, Irish boxing without help from the judges is nothing and it somehow showed at the pro-level, where their boxers are not strong at all, and Ukraine have buch of the top fighters. So kudos for giving money to the judges, this sport needed to be banned from the Olympics, where the world champion who beat his opponent in the face and take him to the canvas, lost Link to comment https://totallympics.com/forums/topic/27291-boxing-ioc-olympic-qualifier-2-2024/page/10/#findComment-632530 Share on other sites

But personally Walsh... should stay at home during the Olympics, since he lost to Zakhareev. And Rio 2016 our fighters were on the end of a lot of robberies too, and there's been plenty more over the years. I didn't see the Walsh Zakhariev fight so I can't comment on that fight specifically, but being upset because your fighter lost a bout which you feel they should have won is no reason to make blanket, inaccurate statements. Boxing judging has always been a source of contention given how subjective it is, personally I feel the scoring system for London 2012 was the best I can remember and I wish they had stuck with that.
