Olympic quota for Italy in the 49er for only 1 point!

We'll be in Paris with a full team

lucky...and undeserved last spot

great for our sailing federation, that will see their funding raise after this "success" (but i'd rather wait for the actual Olympic races, where less than 3 medals -1 gold- and at least 6 top 10 finish should be considered a flop)

The 49er class official facebook and instagram have announced Hong Kong has taken the last spot of the Olympic ticket so maybe the official results have been changed

There were  only 3 pass in 49er, the african reallocation was only for developing Nations, so no pass for Italy and pass for Hong Kong

Paris 2024 Olympic Qualification - assignments and allocations (d2cx26qpfwuhvu.cloudfront.net)

The quota is not for emerging nations but for developing nations.

A reallocated quota will be granted to developing nations first.

And the official 49er class Instagram has updated Hong Kong has taken to quota as developing nations

At least there is "developing nations" ticket for 49erFX according the official instagram of 49er class. But the actual procedure for developing nations to qualifier is still unknown

Paris2024-QS-Sailing.pdf (olympics.com)

you guys can take a look on part F. reallocation on unused quota places

For the reallocation of the unused quota in continental qualification events, it will firstly reallocate to the highest ranked nation in the Last Chance Regatta.

As :ITA is not a developing nation since they successfully qualify from the Olympic from the World Championship in the past two Olympics timeframe, they could not qualify even though they have passed :HKG in the medal race.

So Congratulations to :HKG for getting the first 49er ticket ever in history!
Also good performance for :ITA

For me he should have gotten a better QO. The Italians were 1 point better. Hong Kong is not an emerging country because it has obtained 2 other qualifications. This federation is ridiculous because it can`t establish clear qualification rules. They are turning it into one big circus with some quotas for continents, some specially treated nations, etc. It's just strange that Italy is always harmed: Chamizo, sailing, rowing, etc.

    • apparently the Japanese organizers rejected OCA's nice request    now OCA is ordering them to do so in a not-so-nice language https://oca.asia/media/attachments/memberships_subcommittee/5/Decision_-_103rd_OCA_EB_Meeting_5ypY8y4.pdf   the last line is very interesting   I knew this for a while, for example that's why Jujjtsu is included in all of OCA events (despite being the worst sport to watch) but good to see OCA admit this. so with the corrupt OCA you can buy your way in. how much they paid the OCA officials for this ?   OK I know Qatar is financially supporting Padel (and UAE is paying everything for Jujitsu) but who is behind Teqball?  ! I don't think Thailand can do that.
    • Important information on team Aerials.   There is no AIN`s team at the start list of the world cup despite of the fact that belorussians have enough athletes to have a team.   https://medias4.fis-ski.com/pdf/2026/FS/8119/2026FS8119SLF1.pdf
    • By the way. It looks like no AIN`s will be in biathlon by the start of the Olympics. Russians filed an appeal to CAS to get AIN statuses in biathlon. But IBU did not agree to have hearings with short procedure. So the decisons are not expected before the end of qulifying period. (FIS could do the same but its top-officials prefer to help russians be back as quick as possible).   I would like to see Dolidovich at the Games. Because she is a real refugee of the relatively high level.
