How many medals are possible for GB in the World Champs??

i would expect GB's best chances to be

both 4x100's, both 4x400's and (maybe) the mixed 4x400
women's 800 we WILL get 1, could get 2.
I'd expect 1 in men's 1500m and 1 in men's 400.
Hopefully for molly to get one in PV

My realistic hope would be 9 medals with 1 gold (keeley), optimistic somewhere up to 12 medals....2....3 gold? Men's 4x400 is an exciting prospect

In the past GB was strong in men's 100m with the great runner Linford Christie

whoops.

women's 800m and men's 1500m i got it right, and those are going to be good events for us right through the rest of this cycle.

Relays were a disaster apart from women's 4x100 (just lacked a third leg runner, and neita is starting to decline) biggest problem i have with our relays is their unwillingness to go for it in the mixed 4x400. The dutch do, and still do well individually. Would like to know what MHS issue was, doesn't seem to be a team player.

Men's individual 400m, given the competitiveness across the event i was probably a bit optimistic. Women's PV was just an injury, it happens

Amy Hunt, behind keeley and maybe molly, will be our brightest prospect throughout the next olympiad, hopefully burgin remains injury free, those two are the biggest sparks from this week.

no one will convince me that morgan lake won't win a major world medal at some point in her career, hopefully shes saving it for L.A

5 medals, no golds, not a disaster but an under performance across the board but there's 3 years to fix, and a big home europeans next year will set the tone for the rest of the cycle

Very good news is that the financial problems of the last few years seem to have been resolved.

5 individual medals was exactly the same as Paris, despite injuries to two of GBs best prospects, Caudrey and Kerr. Hunt's medal was a revelation, wightman's a vindication, while KJT's felt a bit valedictory, although O'Dowda had an excellent two days - the big news out of it, however, was the continued rise of Anna Hall and Kate O'Conner - the event felt very much like a signal for the end of what has been the Nafi-KJT era, or even the Nafi-KJT-Ennis era if you want to go all the way back to 2009.

The relays were the issue. They were, let's be honest, appalling. I could be mistaken, but as i understand it MHS has some mental issues that make relays a bit of an ordeal unless he runs first leg. The wheels certainly came off at this champs, but if they are coming off, this is the champs for it to happen. I would still add Charlie Dobson to your list for this cycle, in a similar position to Burgin. I would add Amber Anning to that.

I have felt like we're on the downslope with both Daryll and Dina for a while now. I'm not sure how in love with the sport Dina is any more, her other passions seem to be asserting themselves, and the move to America really only set her back, after enjoying the culture to begin with. Daryll has not had a great couple of years, and Imani seems to be an injury casualty now. That generation may have had its time, not unlike the great Gemili-Hughes-Mitchell-Blake cycle a few years earlier...

UK Athletics' funding plans for the next year.  With Commonwealths and Euros coming up, no excuse for missing targets.

    • I think they incorrectly translated Ukrainian word "nahorody" - it is not a full synonym of "medal". Its cocrrect translation is "award". Meanwhile russian tennis playes switched for Potapova ->  Rakhimova ->
    • Ukrainian diver Lyskun switches allegiance to Russia, loses all medals | Olympics News | Al Jazeera   'loses all medals'   I would assume Al Jazeera could have been a bit clearer and mention this would presumably only be national medals. I mean, it's not like the Ukrainian federation, or any single federation for that matter, has the power to strip her of her world and European championships medals I hope (not for her sake, but because that would be a super weird precedent)
    • That's what I'd plan as well (except for MelFest), but I also know I am hypocritical enough to still want to watch the show and have a fun evening
