World Athletics obviously preferring to pick people by ranking places.  It’s a debatable point; you maybe get more in better current firm.

This weekend we have the :RUS (incorporating :BLR) Championships from Yekatarinburg (where the Commies murdered the Tsar & his family.). Just like in the old Cold War days, will be interesting to compare times & distances.  But unlike the old days, there will be no Zurich for both sides to finally meet.  ;)

Hmm standards not high in the first event. Women’s Shot was famously dominated by :URS back in the early days, but here only one athlete over 17m, and that only good enough for 6th or 7th in Paris.

:roflmao: nothing to compare, Russians will lose even to Belarussians with very poor results. the only high-profile athlete Kristina Makarenko (11.01 in 100m this year) is injuried
