Biathlon 2020 - 2021 Discussion Thread

I think it has to do with funding and guarenteed starts on the WC circuit.  if you look at this past season, Paul Schommer, although I love his Youtube channel where he and Jake Brown have so really fun an interesting behind the scenes things, was #4 on the men's team.  Maddie Phaneuf also had a strong IBU Cup season, but she was #5 on the women's team, same with Max Durtschi.

What's the difference between A3 and B? :p

Per the USBA in a facebook post - "A1, 2 and 3 teams are differentiated by slightly different funding and camp structures."

Good article about the improvements at Lake Placid.

Also - this is an old French commercial with biathlon in it.  It is every snarky comment about biathlon made by dumb journalists come true.  I speak french, and still have no idea what the point of this commercial is.

Markus Segessenmann and Swiss Biathlon have parted ways.  As a Swiss Biathlon fan, ouch.  He has been with them since 2003.

It’s an advert for a trashy action & crime TV channel.  “If we did sport, this is what it would be like.”

Comments from the head coach: “Her (Stina Nilsson) results grew every week, with every start. She finished very well in the World Cup. Perhaps Stina’s high results at the World Cup are due to the fact that it is easier for her to compete in an environment with the best in the world, here she can show everything that she is capable of,"
