Yeah, so all that Pre-Beijing 2022 Chinese shopping, naturalization everybody with small distant chinese roots and changing names to Chinese in order "of popularization and building of bright future of hockey in China" was just as expected... simple lies to IOC, IIHF and Chinese hockey fans overall and just and simply pure shopping to simply not lose the face at home Olympics. Once Beijing 22 was over. Thank you all and good bye we do not need you anymore

Looks like Poland vs Ukraine tomorrow for the right to advance. Depending on how both games in the group go it could be clinched on Friday.

Just a small reminder. IIHF will have some good troubles to solve if :UKR beat :POL today.

In this case and GBR & HUN winning their respective groups, :UKR will play in Bratislava tournament also against :BLR

Apparently, this information moved some asses within the IIHF leaderbard. Like, no one see this coming... Next week IIHF will announce on its special general assembly its final decision about RUS & BLR

    • Mia Blichfeldt is leaving Badminton Denmark's elite training program as she moves to France to live with her French boyfriend.   Denmark's representative in women's singles at the last two Olympics, Mia Blichfeldt, is leaving the national team training in Brøndby effective immediately.
    • Eden Park has always been (also) a cricket ground. They kept cricket in mind when they refurbished it for the 2011 RWC. It's hardly comparable with regular rectangle stadiums around the world.   And there are not many cities who would have a somewhat decent athletic stadium on top of their olympic stadium.   There are no way around it. Having cricket in the olympic program would be a major issue for many of the possible future hosts.
    • I'd say the very best, as soon as it's there, is to have the official qualifying document (generally in PDF format) in the first post, so you don't need to go to another place just for that.
    • In 2010 Asian Games, Olympic council of Asia included Dance Sports like Five Dances, Quickstep, Slow foxtrot, Tango, Waltz, Jive, Paso Doble, Samba, etc.
    • It was not, no     Although I do agree with everyone who says it's bullshit to add a sport for one Olympic cycle, whether that's karate, breaking or, I don't know, cycle ball. Give a sport a fair chance with 2-3 Olympic cycles, or don't add it at all, and bring back the option of an actual demonstration sport to try something out for a one-off thing.
    • I agree that some new sports deserve a chance. I really like skateboard, bmx, Mountainbike.  I didn’t like breakdancing, surfing.    difficult to say what the criteria are for selecting sports. Yes in some cases it’s political or economical. but doesn’t mean it’s wrong.    on the other hand some sports survive only for that reason. Take waterpolo, if it wasn’t for the power of WA it doesn’t really deserve a spot. I am Croatian  and very glad its there as it gave us few medals. But its popular and seriously played in only few European countries plus maybe US and Australia. Outside those few countries no one gives a f***.  so if popularity is only criteria @ChandlerMnethen waterpolo is for sure out.
    • naaa...in AUS they have sharks all around, also in the swimming pools, so they have to swim fast if they don't want to get caught
    • yes, you can!   provided it's a football stadium with the athletics track (it would only require minor adjustment, like a carpet to cover the track and make it a playable surface)    I remember that they also played a world cup semifinal at the Eden Park in Auckland, which is a rugby stadium with some space around the rugby lines
    • Of course I forgot the Australian swimmers 😂. Or is it because of Australian water that they are so good😉
