Pan American Games 2023

Solid qualification system. I like that they use SA/CAC Games for qualification.

Its more or less the same as the last few games. However, "If the Host country, Chile is also ranked first or second in the South American (ODESUR) Games 2022, then a third team not yet qualified based on final rankings at the VI Pan American Cup 2021 will qualify." is new. Basically guarantees a third country will qualify from the Pan Am Cup

More bullshit decissions: next year's Cadet PanAm championships in Wrestling will serve as qualifiers for Cali 2021.

How can they give a ticket to Santiago to U18 athletes who compete in different weight categories?

The issue is that Panam Sports is trying to use Cali 2021 as a replacement for Dakar 2022 as well. It’s a elite U23 competition that’s also trying to serve as an elite U18 competition. Cali 2021 has an identity crisis :p

Indeed. They were suppose to implement two different competitions: Jr and Youth Pan American Games.

I could live with a 19-22 competition for Panam Sports, and two different ones for the 15-18 segment:

South American Youth Games (already in place)

Central American and Caribbean Youth Games (excluding :ARU:COL:GUY:PAN:SUR:VEN)

Controversial decision indeed, but on the long term, it will be detrimental for the dressage riders.

@mrv86 @Olympian1010

Have heard that squash, bowling, racquetball and basque pelota have been added now to the Santiago 2023 program. Sport climbing has also been added.

Great news.

As for Basque Pelota, I just hope they just consider Paleta Goma & Frontenis

    • Honestly, I think you guys have a much better chance of success here than we do. It's already difficult to maintain this sport, and with this ridiculous format this year, things have gotten even worse. Years and years participating in the elite and we haven't been able to evolve; it was just a waste.

She is improving rapidly and still has a lot of room for growth.
