Basketball, Baseball, Football, and Volleyball are all popular in both Asia and Oceania. Rugby is hugely popular in Oceania. Handball is quite popular in Western Asia. Artistic Swimming enjoys popularity in East Asia.

It's synchronised swimming, don't play whit fire :spank:

A) It’s actually called Artistic Swimming

B) It works better as a name

C) Not everything has to be synchronized

It was a different concept, they aren't only words. Thanks god in Italy and Russia it's still "synchronized swimming" and it will never change...

Sadly until we create a system where 200+ nations can participate there's always going to be someone missing out. It's unfair to make things easier for Pacific nations by removing Australia/New Zealand while doing nothing to help the small states of Europe or smaller Caribbean nations in Pan America, etc (or by creating a very complicated qualification system that essentially makes the tripartite commission redundant).

While a lot of continental quotas do end up going to the big nations from each continent it's still better for the smaller nations than the alternative of not having continental quotas.

This is a fair point. Maybe the following would be the best qualification system.

Fuck the continental qualification system. Instead, we divide the 206 (though may soon be 207, 208, or 209) NOCs by either 5, 6, or 7. NOCs are put into tiered qualification groups based one three factors: population, athlete density (how many athletes), and competitiveness (you could also add geographical size, and make different groups for each gender). The groups could be the same for every sport, or different from sport to sport.

This seems like the most fair way. Obviously the higher tiers could be given more quotas. Also, we could say that only NOCs in the lowest tier are eligible for universality quotas (and they can only have 1 quota per gender through that method).

How is it different? The artistic component score of the sport is the biggest chunk of the total score. Also, Artistic Swim is so much easier to say.

This system will give less quota to developed sporting country, and this will strongly penalize Europe (and North America). A lot of top athletes will miss the Olympics only becouse some people thinks that small country have the rights to compete in EVERY sport. For me the actually systems is pretty good, they only should reduce the continental quotas. Olympics are for the best athletes, I think that we agree about it.

It's a bit hard to explain in English for me, I don't know the good translation for the technical words. "Artistic swimming" give more important to the artistic segment and he become more similar to acrobatic gymnastic than the currently form of synchronised swimming (like the highlight routine, how bad it is..)
