Meh, another final ending with an error instead of a nice winner :p

Djokovic wins. How special! It's the first time in history Djokovic wins his 17th Grand Slam title and the first time in his career he wins more than 16 Grand Slam titles! Nobody saw this coming, what a surprise, all the emotions! Etc etc :p

This narrative going on with male tennis about Djokovic, Nadal or Federer  only their fanboys and specialized journalists can find it exciting.

I love how every single time one of these people wins a Grand Slam, everyone comes up with the 'Greatest Of All Time' debate again and literally every single time the GOAT 'has' to be one of Nadal, Federer, Djokovic

Come on, how can tennis fans completely ignore a hundred years of tennis

Besides: if three players in the same era dominate this much, one can also wonder whether instead of them being so great, the competition might be relatively weak.

i think injuries of Wawrinka , Delpotro and Murray played a great role in this dominance also and i see that each era of tennis had these 3 or 4 players dominating all the way , it's not like before them there were 2 or 3 new winners each year in Grand Slams :d

    • need to work on the celebrations... or just drop them?   Btw, these jerseys suck and I remember Zambia playing in all white with red numbers. At least they have orange on national flag but still...
    • British Columbia in general and Vancouver in particular are awesome and it’s great more people got to discover it thanks to Vancouver 2010.
    • And of course the British being famous for curmudgeons, there were always plenty of curmudgeons to quote.  Then of course from the opening ceremony and the cycle race on the very first morning it was obviously going to be triumph, so everyone just shut up for a while.
    • Yep, the amount of emergency services I heard at some point was a little extreme (for our little town), so I checked what was going on and saw they were all being called to a specific location. Until then I thought maybe it was part of a parade of trucks and agricultural vehicles that was on it's way from the next town over, decorated with lights and stuff.   Since I knew it was on the parade route, I was sure one of those big vehicles had hit people somehow (there were, besides the many vehicles, also two helicopters on the way, meaning it certainly wasn't about a single victim).   We picked our bikes and went to take a look, absolutely chaos in the area. Never saw so many services combined together, fire trucks from 20km away, ambulance after ambulance came racing by, people frantically trying to make way for them (the roads weren't really closed yet).   While there we heard someone who had been close say that the parade hadn't arrived yet and what seemed to have happened was that a car from the other side came onto the roundabout and simply never turned. "It's a massive drama over there, unbelievable", he said.   Quite quickly rumours started spreading of course, the first one turned out to be true: a middle aged (local) woman was behind the wheel and seems to have become unwell. Local security camera showed the car going at high speed right before the roundabout.   Plenty of rumours going around in terms of who were involved of course, and people keeping each other up to date to see if they know this or that family and such...   Never expected my little town to be big news in the Netherlands, even including some breaking broadcasts, live reporters and everything, damn. By far the biggest thing to happen here in my memory

    • For me, these were very good Olympics, and British sport benefited greatly from them, and is still benefiting. I fear it will be much worse here. Canada also benefited very good on Vancouver 2010 – this is very good see in the medal standings of subsequent Winter Games after 2010 and earlier.
    • Nobody hates Britain more than the British media so… I recall it being quite a pessimistic tone before the London games started.
    • I'm curious what was written before London 2012? Did they attack their own country, or did they just keep quiet?
    • Other winners at the PanAm Sports Awards Junior 2025
    • Very true point.  Although I think at this point everyone is just holding their collective breath until the test event.  The NHL isn't going to rage anymore until then because it's not like that would make the arena progress go any quicker
