African Group Stage

CAF qualifying restarted with Matchdays 3 and 4 from 5th to 11th June, but not only the field is look when we talk about African matches ;)

In May 2024, FIFA Disciplinary Committee sanctions the Equatorial Guinean FA for fielding player Emilio Nsue Lopez, when he was ineligible for FIFA.

Consequently decided to declare the matches of the FIFA World Cup 2026 preliminary competition in which the player was fielded lost by forfeit by Equatorial Guinea by a score of 3-0 (Equatorial Guinea 1-0 Namibia and Liberia 0-1 Equatorial Guinea).

Equatorial Guinea is down at zero points in three matches after lost with Tunisia (group H)

In the first day we have a "postponed" match: Congo :CGO  vs :NIG  Niger for forfait of the home nations Congo!!!

Congo was authorized at the last minute to play at home in Brazzaville, but Niger backtracked, wanting to go to Kinshasa initially chosen for the match.

The Minister of Sports of the Republic of Congo, Hugues Ngouélondélé, announced forfeit rather than go to Kinshasa.

It is now up to FIFA to decide on this match.

Kirguistan is a big surprise for me, at least before the conformation of the groups.

CONCACAF WCQ

After played the first two matches of Second Round, the CONCACAF qualifiers will be back next year in June.

The match :CUB vs :CAY  was cancelled after a decision by Cayman Is. FA to not travel at Cuba.

US travel restrictions pose a risk to Cayman’s players, many of whom are in college or training in the United States.

The US routinely cancels ESTA visa waivers for anyone who has travelled to Cuba. This would impact several of the national team players who are under 23, on student visas to attend college in the US and have ESTAs in their British passports.

Whittaker, President  of CIFA, told that the team had discussed the options and decided they could not play in Cuba and would have to forfeit the match.

The match is cancelled and will be awarded by Cuba 3-0 after a decision of Fifa disciplinary

I was hoping for :IND to qualify fo third round. They were winning and had the qualification but then :QAT scored two goals in the second half.

Good for :PLE for qualifying!!  And :PAK won its first ever match during the first qualifying round.

Yep but Malaysia isn't too strong though. Thailand missed their chance, the same with India and Afghanistan with quite average Kuwait. I will be supporting Indonesia, Jordan and Oman.

I fell in love with sports.....since i first seen it

There'll be 2 qualification Pools and 4 teams in each with the top 2 teams in each pool advancing to the 2026 WBC.   As a fan of international baseball, words cannot describe how disappointed I am. We are coming off arguably the greatest international baseball tournament in history in 2023 and we are cutting the number of teams in the qualification round from 12 to 8 teams . How do you expect to grow baseball like that? Teams like  Argentina and  Pakistan have been on the rise but now they won't have the chance to qualify.     Taipei Qualification Pool (Feb. 21-25, 2025)  Nicaragua  South Africa  Spain  Taiwan     Tucson Qualification Pool (Mar. 2-6, 2025)  Brazil  China  Colombia  Germany

    • Well... I'm late, as always, but unfortunately I couldn't follow live and I've just finished catching up with the thread.    Congratulations to our winner @Hipooo and to @Belle and @Erigert on their medals.    Well done to our host @Cinnamon Bun, who put up a huge effort managing the contest.   Thank you to everyone who voted for our song and helped us achieve this 5th place. I saw we were very close to a podium finish, but this is still a great result.   Congratulations to @Makedonas on the very successful song choice.   I'll now share my ballot.     1st   12 pts   Romania  2nd   11 pts   Bulgaria  3rd   10 pts   Sweden  4th   9 pts   Mexico  5th   8 pts   Brazil  6th   7 pts   Indonesia  7th   6 pts   China  8th   5 pts   France  9th   4 pts   Denmark  10th   3 pts   Spain  11th   2 pts   Italy  12th   1 pts   Albania    Res1   Ireland  Res2   India  Res3   Hungary   I'm looking forward to seeing you all in the next contest!
