Wow, that is random :yikes:

I have hopes to hear him soon though... :p

At one point yesterday he referred to dressage as "run 1" and then said "I guess I am getting ready for the Winter sports season." :p

Anyway, the winner.

More nonsense from FEI. Starting from next season, the Short Grand Prix will be used for Dressage World Cup. With an aim "to maintain a pacey and interesting competition" and achieve more "air time on television". Surely the TV networks are already putting up their bids!

Basically, it's just another move supported by the British equestrian mafia. They are the only ones who created and 'tested' this format, and voila, suddenly it's official for everyone.

:POR Joao Miguel Torrao & Equador deserve a little mention.

They opened the weekend with 77.348% (NR for Portugal). They followed it up with 79.042% in the Special (NR again) and 83.875% in the Freestyle (and again!).

Massive scores. If he can replicate this on a bigger stage, Torrao has a strong chance for Top 10 finish in Tokyo. Maybe even a podium - given that he improved his scores by 5-6% this year.

Edward Gal's wonder horse Totilas has died today, aged 20

Still such a shame how this all ended up after the time with Gal..

Dr. Dietrich Plewa, FEI 5* five-star judge: “With Totilas, whom I was able to observe from the very beginning of his career, I first associate the concept of a talent of the century, especially for the collective lessons piaffe, passage, pirouettes. On the other hand, my impression of him has always been a bit ambiguous, because with all the expression and all the passion that the horse has brought, and an almost limitless willingness to perform, there was always a bit of a circus in his ideas. As for the sport of dressage, it has certainly contributed to its popularity. Here too, the feeling is unfortunately a bit ambivalent because the rumored price fostered the idea that dressage is something very strange that happens in some elite circles.”

Yeah, that whole thing made dressage go from "most people don't care, some people like it" to "most people despise it, some don't care and a few like it" here. Everyone knew horses are often seen as nothing but sellable equipment and material by their owners, sadly, but that made it clearer than anything had done before in the Netherlands.

Sandra Nuxoll has no team experience and Bonheur is only 8. But, who knows, maybe they will be Austria's secret weapon for Tokyo?

Very good trot, exceptional walk (9.1), but really poor canter by comparison. Interesting. Flying changes were the absolute lowlight.

    • The only ones complaining about the short track refs are Italians, imo. Not even on this forum, but in general, from what I've been seeing on live chats and other social media sites. That says a lot to be honest. I suspect it's partially due to them not performing to the high standard they're expected to perform at especially at the Olympics. The refs make a lot of mistakes for everyone, there's no bias against or towards anyone    Plus, Italy have won 6 medals already.... the most you've won at a Worlds since 2016.
    • For me they gave Canada the gold in the relay in exchange for a 1000-meter dsq gold for Dandjinou, that's how I see it. It was a battle between Kor and Can on 2 of this case. It's hard to say why that last dsq for Kor was in relay? Of course, Italy win bronze thanks for that, but that's not really important. It would have been better if the referees had just stayed out of the results and left it as it was decided for fight on the ice.

    • the quata for europe or australia is from the primer 12, where the top 20 teams will participate, sadly  is the 21th team so the only slight chance for us in my opinion is if: we get top 2 at the european championship (not including  hopefully if they get the quata), then somehow win the final qualification tournament against i assume  and one of    the chances for us are slim, i think about 4 other team sports  have a better chance in in my opinion(and the most team sports we ever had was one, and it was the last two time after a long time )

    • well, Cuba and Venezuela for sure...   Iran is a different question, but I hope in 2 years all this war shit is done and dusted and at least in the sports world everything is gonna be OK
    • In my opinion the Italian team has been playing above expectations since last year after several years of decline. Last year, we advanced to the first division at the European Championships and now they're playing very close matches against the strong India and Scotland. We a little miss a potential to do more – we are only 18th in the world rankings. Our men's team's performance in this sport is much weaker.
    • I wonder if all Cuba, Iran and Venezuela will be able to travel and compete in LA at all... Hopefully that yes.
