Best over 800m at the moment - but potentially both 800 and 1500 by 2021

Seems very unlikely, but we’ll find out next year.

How so?

just 3 letters: N-O-P

all those cheaters should be cancelled from the sports history books, exactly like those of the BALCO scandal, Ma Junren's Turtle Blood addicted and all benefiting from the (many) State-run Doping programs discovered through the years...

Do you have proof that she doped? If not, then what is the difference between her and every other medal contender in sports like swimming or athletics? If you want to get rid of all the cheaters, you have to ban everyone who is currently a medal contender in those sports.

Tomorrow and Saturday is the day for the Lithuanian Championships and pretty much every Lithuanian star is going to attend.

Among the participants we have Lithuanian record holders: Simas Bertašius (1500m), Edis Matusevičius (Javelin Throw), Agnė Šerkšnienė (200m, 400m), Airinė Palšytė (High Jump), Diana Zagainova (Triple Jump), Liveta Jasiūnaitė (Javelin Throw)

This is the first competition for Palšytė this season, Andrius Gudžius will be throwing the discus as well and he has good results from Palanga.

Interesting battles are going to happen in the women's 400m as well as the triple jump between Zagainova and Kilty.

Sadly and not sadly at the same time, I'll be away on work for both of the days, but if anything noteworthy happens, I'm gonna post here on Sunday.

I don't have any proof about anybody because it's not my job...

for what concerns NOP and all of their athletes, the US Senate has a report of more than 200 pages that nails all NOP officials, trainers, athletes and even the Nike vice-president (not just a low tier worker, the executive vice president!) to their responsibility...

but thanks to this WADA (and their political accolites) the criminals always come only from China and / or Russia (or other non English-speaking Countries)...

Great news is that the very truncated World Athletics Continental Tour starts again next week.  As you may remember - if you have very long memories - this is the 2nd level of World Athletics, but normally includes some very good meets like Hengelo, Berlin, Madrid etc.

https://www.worldathletics.org/competitions/world-athletics-continental-tour/calendar/2020

The GOLD level meets will all be live on YouTube. So first one is at Turku on Wednesday.  And there will also be some Diamond League meets, starting in Monaco in one week

And I have updates from one of the most successful Lithuanian Athletics Championships.

On the very first day, there was some history made in the 100m race.

Gediminas Truskauskas became the 5th fastest Lithuanian with a time of 10.37, while on the women's side, Andrė Ožechauskaitė ran a 11.71 and smashed all of the youth sprint records. (The winning time was from Deliautaitė with 11.68)

A pretty respectable showing from Agnė Šerkšnienė in 400m (recovering after an injury season), she posted a 52.29 time

Simas Bertašius ran 1500m very close to the Lithuanian record time and finished in 3:40.34

In the 10000m, Brasevičius was the first man in the last 17 years to run under 30 minutes, so our distance running is rising from the grave slowly

Andrius Gudžius won the discus throw with a 68.16

On the second day there were some good results too

Gediminas Truskauskas ran the 200m in 20.83 and broke the Lithuanian U23 record and it was only 0.09s worse than the Lithuanian record held by fastest Lithuanian in both 100m and 200m - Rytis Sakalauskas.

Modesta Justė Morauskaitė ran 400m. Hurdles with a PB of 57.67, 7th fastest Lithuanian time in that distance.

Dovilė Kilty defeated the Lithuanian record holder Diana Zagainova in the triple jump and posted a mark of 14.18, which broke the Lithuanian Championship record. Another fun thing is that Vaida Padimanskaitė is getting a PB after PB in the triple jump and if ECH U23 is going to be hosted next year, she might become the third Lithuanian after Kilty and Zagainova to win the gold in these championships. She's already jumping 13.58 and with the way she is progressing it's not unlikely to see her jumping 14 next season.

Lastly, both Lithuanian record holders in the javelin throw threw a season best result of 81.38 for Matusevičius and 60.27 for Jasiūnaitė.

There were only four disciplines that did not post a season best result and those were: Women's High Jump (Palšytė skipped the event), Men's Discus Throw, since Gudžius has a better result from other competitions this year, women's 1500m and lastly women's discus throw as well with it being the only competition this year for Zarankaitė that she didn't throw a personal best result.

With the championships coming to a close, there is one final stop where all of the best athletes will gather and it is the Baltic Championships in Latvia next weekend. Just like with the other category championships, all three countries send 2 individuals to start in every single discipline and points are combined at the end.

    • Good luck then! Keep us updated please!!!   And see you in 2026 olympics!!!
    • Apparently this season will be last one in Kamil Stoch career if his results wont be enough good for his standards.
    • Such a nice one for Colturi ! That was fun. It almost looked like a script with the cameras focusing on Colturi a couple of times before her first run and showcasing the potential of youngster and she didn't disappoint.      I hope Colturi skis for Albania forever. So much fun to cheer her with the Albanian flag.    I don't get it why everyone is being so critical of Colturi, you got no right to criticize a personal decision, as most European nations use imported athletes in many sports like wrestling and cheer them on like their.   Would you spend hours criticizing Frank Chamizo for switching to Italy rather than playing for Cuba?

    • It may also be that Ceccerelli saw that the conditions in the Italian youth teams were very poor and that is why she insisted on setting up her own team (the results of young Italian skiers unfortunately confirm this). A private team will always be better than a team with 10-12 skiers with max. 3-4 coaches, a one doctor and a physiotherapist. Colturi is the only skier in her team and she has several coaches, a masseur, a doctor etc. Of course, it costs money, but since the parents are famous and have money + Red Bull got involved. I don't understand why she can't start for Italy again? Red Bull should care more that Colturi starts in Cortina under the Italian flag than the Albanian one + Red Bull, as a brand, always has a bigger sales market in Italy with a population of 60 million than in small Albania. I hope that this can still be reversed by next year. For this we need talks between the federation + Colturi's parents + Red Bull + possibly the Italian Olympic Committee. Colturi may be a skier equal to Brignone or even better in the future. We can't lose her, so we have to do now!
    • I`m very disappointed with this weekend. Only becouse of Ghiotto form I`m happy. Unfortunately, the women's team will not function well if Lollobrigida skips most of the training camps and Fontana starts alternately in short tack and long track. It will end with her not winning any medals here or there, because it`s already clear that it will be very difficult to achieve good results in long track. I hope that she understands this, because in short track she has a real chance of winning medals in the women's relay and the mixed relay but in long track not.
    • Tragic performance of the Italian women's team - last place and probably something bad happened at the start. There are so few starts in the team that it will be a problem to even qualify for the World Championships - 8 best teams. After Lollobrigida's return and Fontana's addition, I was counting on much more, but it seems that there are too few joint trainings. With individual quality, we have no right to lose to the Czechs without Sablikova, or anonymous Korea. And unfortunately this start will count for a lot, because there are only 2 more and our chances of playing at the World Championships are minimal. In my opinion with Fontana going from Short Track to Long Trackand vice versa, we won't be much use in the team. Here great teamwork is needed, not improvisation. As of today, there is very little chance that we will qualify the women's team for the games.
    • men advanced to Division A for the first time since 2018 (when they went 1-8). Don't expect much progress next year
