It doesn't take place on Christmas, Hanukah really is not a thing in this part of the world and there's a whole boatload of worldwide sports on New Years. If you don't know that last one, which I suppose you actually do since you're not living under a rock, you really need to work on your sports knowledge.

The idiotic one of the two Dutch studio hosts (they switch out every session, more or less): "This is the last evening EVER in which Raymond van Barneveld....starts a world championships!"

I assume so, but the host was making a whole big deal of this being the last night in which he starts a world championships  

 

If he wins but doesn't do so with great play, he has a good chance to lose out in round two because if he isn't perfect, his eternal negativity takes over.
