1) There is a lot of room between fast and "faster than you think". My grandma can also run faster than you would think, doesn't make her fast/an athlete.

2) Not sure if i would qualify someone as an athlete who can run fast once for 2 seconds and then needs 20 minutes to recover (which luckily can be used to show a dozen commercials). American football is 90 % standing around/commercials.

Attachment is the great fabricator of illusions; reality can be obtained only by someone who is detached.

:FRA Mayer surrounded by Estonians in H1 of the decathlon 100m. :p

 

Erm clocks a PB of 10.69 to take the win, ahead of Mayer in 10.79, Tilga in 10.84, and Oiglane in 10.94

:CAN Warner leads in the standings after 1/10 events, clocking a 10.32 to take H3 of the decathlon 100m, ahead of :PUR Owens-Delerme in 10.43, :GER Eitel in 10.44 and :CAN LePage in 10.45.

Can't wait for tomorrow with once-every-two-years commentators talking about the insane comeback from Kaul, coming from well outside of the top-15 into the top-6 or so in the last two events, as would of course be totally expected given his qualities :p

Can't decently follow a decathlon without a forecast obviously, so here is the one of ten7events based on everyone's decathlon PB. Not ideal, because it also counts PB's from like 6 years ago (there used to be one which counted mostly the past two years or so), but it is still a lot better than nothing to give a sense of how good certain results really are (so one can see that for example a 10.90 for Kaul would be WAY WAY better than a 10.40 for Warner):

      Here, the Masters is on national TV.  Are major golf tourneys in the USA shown in other places?   (I work at a private school that's just about an 80-minute drive from Augusta.  Many of my students are able to go watch the tournament in person.  I've never paid attention to golf until this year...it's a beautiful course!)

      last session in  Stockholm   many good-but-not-so-great times, earlier Tonight in Sweden, but a couple of performances stood up among the others   women's 100m Free:  Siobhan Haughey, 52.79 men's 800m Free:  Johannes Liebmann, 7.37.94, new European Record (13-sec improvement from last year's Junior Worlds   )     more clockings around Europe:   in , John Shortt swam 53.17 over the men's 100m Back and 1.55.70 over the 200m Back, meanwhile Daniel Wiffen only got 14.51 over the 1500m Free and 7.58 over the 800m Free   in , Noè Ponti went below the 23-sec mark in the men's 50m Fly (22.96)     from Tuesday,  Spring Nationals in Riccione, our key event to qualify for the Europeans in  Paris next Summer here, all the key notes you need to know about the selection criteria: https://swimswam.com/2026-italian-lc-swimming-championships-the-gateway-to-paris-2026/

      so, one of the most boring world cup stages ever has ended    if it wasn't for  and , winning 1 gold medal each, a  sweep would have come true, as they won all the remaining 8 gold medals (and a bunch of silver and bronze, too)    while some sports are brcoming more and more global, it looks that (rifle and pistol) shooting is going the other way round, it's becoming less and less global, with just 1 or 2 dominating Countries and a few others filling the (minor) gaps here and there, with always less Nations capable to win medals (only 12, out of 10 competitions) and even make the final    now the Rifle and Pistol world cup takes a break to allow most Continental championships to take place between the end of April and May.   It will be back in  Munich in the last week of May.   In the meantime, the Shotgun specialists will be on stage from May 2nd through May, 11th in  Almaty.
