the day of thrill and surprises

Group III

:ESP VS :POR29-35, the surprise is not just the result or :ESP has been eliminated, actually the performance of :POR was very great not only in this game but in the whole tournament, the great thing about :POR they can score from all positions, back side, wings, pivot, penetration and fast breaks.. as a handball ex-player and fan I really like this team and wish they continue like that

:SWE VS :BRA 24-27, another huge surprise for one of the trams ( :BRA ) if they believe themselves they can be at least in the top 8 every tournament (and first not to lose the pan American championship).. I saw only the highlights but a major observation that :SWE never get ahead in the game and the only draw was 1-1 !!.. I like the personality of :BRA when the gap reduced from 5 goals to 20-19 near the end but :BRA acted as a big team and increased the gap again. Another team I would love to see them usually in the top eight

:CHI VS :NOR 22-39, easy game with no actual resistance

GROUP IV

:ARG VS :CPV 30-26, :ARG Secured their first win in the main round, but being honest the team was stronger in the last two championship :CPV can be an important figure in African handball and we may see them more frequently on the podium with silver or bronze (currently :EGY is dominating the continent by far)

:EGY VS :SLO 26-25, first I want to show this number (11-20) this is the number of turnovers in the game!!! :SLO did 20!!! When I was playing u 15 and our team do 20 turnovers in a game the next day we would be punished with tough training and exercises (when we were 16 years old and above we never do 20 turnovers in a game!!)

referees were a key factor in the game with 3 imaginary penalties for :SLO keeping them in the game when the gap start increasing (left back jump from 8 m hitting 2 :EGY defenders with 2 cases are obviously offensive foul and one normal foul for :SLO but refs intentionally gave penalties)… then at min 29:58 in 2nd half they balanced their decision by giving an offensive foul against :SLO in an action never ever being awarded as offensive foul. Anyway, :EGY secured qualification as 2nd to face :FRA with rare opportunity to be first

:CRO VS :ISL 32-26, :CRO The home team finally found the pace and win by more than 5 goals to be in the safe side in the head to head between :CRO:EGY:ISL and if :CRO beat :SLO in the last game they will be heading the group

standing:

Group III

:POR 7 qualified

:BRA 6 qualified

:NOR 4

:SWE 4

:ESP 3

:CHI 0

Group IV

:CRO 6

:EGY 6 qualified (yes the second guaranteed qualification but the first not 😂)

:ISL 6

:SLO 4

:ARG 2

:CPV 0

You are absolutely right

and I didn’t see great potential in your u21 or u19 teams

you need to build up a new generation with good coaching school (I recommend spanish or french as it matches more your way of playing and body shape)

Brazil and even Chile are doing well now and the gap will grow even bigger

After discussing with some friends close to IHF

the ref whistle passive play after :SLO did the 5th pass (the new rule the team should have max of 4 passes after the ref announces passive)

    • It's all hogwash especially in the short attention span generation. Like nobody cares about Free Tibet anymore either. Free Palestine will last a lot longer due to Saudi Arabia becoming a sponsorship force in sports.   Israel is too weak in soccer to qualify from UEFA zone. The only time they qualified was from the Asian zone and they only beat Australia & New Zealand who were complete nobodies in the 1960s. No such luck in the 60 years since.
    • Oh I assure you FIFA dodger a bullet with Israel not qualifying…   But ya that’s kind of the thing, shut up and dribble is a mantra anti LGBT people have used often. I don’t think it’s hypocritical to remind them of their position
    • Ah, yes but that's not how pro athletes are taught in North America these days? Shut up & dribble is xenophobic, racist or whatever? The hypocrisy of some of these policies were exposed during 2022 World Cup already where the Saudis played it smart and waved their own "Free Palestine' slogans. Forget LGBT rights for a moment, how many 'Free Palestine' flags will be waved in 2026? Or will those be confiscated by default? Somehow I feel this won't be met with similar backlash when China clamped down on 'Free Tibet' in 2008 OG. Saudi Arabia is more important to global markets than Iran & Egypt
    • Wisła Płock just assumed 1st position after five consecutive draws. Must be first time ever a team on a five match winless streak actually moves up to league top.
    • Well ya, which is why the Egyptian and Iranian teams can shut up and dribble :P
    • The problem is, the World Cup is not a local event. Overall it's another storm in a teacup. LGBT rights in Muslim countries won't change a damn inch becuse of one soccer match in Seattle
