I see, I thought they called an stick tackle.

Still, a lot of those backstick calls are usually doubtful to me, but unlike the ref I'm only watching from far away so... fine.

Nope. That's why you see players doing like a circle movement to pass the ball sometimes, unlike ice hockey where they just dribble the puck however they want.

The field hockey stick has a flat side and curved side, only the flat side can touch the ball.

Watched it a couple of times, but NEVER realized that

Thanks a lot. so basically the most important rules to know for a layman is the goal can not be scored from outside the goal circle (or however it is called) and you have to play the ball only by stick and only with the flat side. I learned the first one thanks re-watchin Rio replays :d

Looks like a nice sport, pity I don´t have too much chances to watch it

    • apparently the Japanese organizers rejected OCA's nice request    now OCA is ordering them to do so in a not-so-nice language https://oca.asia/media/attachments/memberships_subcommittee/5/Decision_-_103rd_OCA_EB_Meeting_5ypY8y4.pdf   the last line is very interesting   I knew this for a while, for example that's why Jujjtsu is included in all of OCA events (despite being the worst sport to watch) but good to see OCA admit this. so with the corrupt OCA you can buy your way in. how much they paid the OCA officials for this ?   OK I know Qatar is financially supporting Padel (and UAE is paying everything for Jujitsu) but who is behind Teqball?  ! I don't think Thailand can do that.
    • Important information on team Aerials.   There is no AIN`s team at the start list of the world cup despite of the fact that belorussians have enough athletes to have a team.   https://medias4.fis-ski.com/pdf/2026/FS/8119/2026FS8119SLF1.pdf
    • By the way. It looks like no AIN`s will be in biathlon by the start of the Olympics. Russians filed an appeal to CAS to get AIN statuses in biathlon. But IBU did not agree to have hearings with short procedure. So the decisons are not expected before the end of qulifying period. (FIS could do the same but its top-officials prefer to help russians be back as quick as possible).   I would like to see Dolidovich at the Games. Because she is a real refugee of the relatively high level.
