I know the alpine combined can often give interesting results despite not having the most exciting competition, but dear Lord, this must have been the most boring AC I've ever seen

Pretty much the best slalom skiers in the field topping the super-G, yeah, bye excitement :d

Once again, this is the new Alpine Combined version supposed to be more "equal" after peoples started crying all over and over, that now only slalom specialists can win blah blah...interesting, nobody was bashing in the past when they had even 2 slalom runs...however, now when they decided to do that introducing the rule of the eventual super-g winners starting first in the slalom run, they had to logically level up a bit the chances also for the slalom specialists to balance a bit the competition, so the AC super-G will be from now more like longer Giant Slalom than real Super-G, like you had the chance to see today.

Yeah, slalom specialists always had better chances in the past 10 years or so, but it's not like it was 100% :p Speed specialists did sometimes manage to take a win here and there in between the technical specialists

Just do a normal downhill and a normal slalom. Although that'd make it pretty easy for slalom specialists as well. Being world class in slalom and meh in speed simply gives you a bigger chance to win a combined than being meh in slalom and world class in speed, so I guess technical specialists will always keep the advantage.

The combined must be with downhill, not superg, and it is right that who win the downhill start first in slalom, specially in men, where until last year we saw many skier going on podium after a 28, 29 or 30th place in downhill. For women is a little different because there are 5 or 6 skiers that are simply a lot better than the other with every rule

New format isn't really about what kind of specialists win, it's creating a competition that makes at least some kind of sense (thanks to global warming I guess? :p).

But anyway, names like Aerni and Hadalin won WCh medals even though they don't compete in speed events whatsoever. In fact, the ONLY reason why they won these medals is because they were extremely lucky to find themselves 25th-30th after downhill. That's it.

New format still gives advantage to slalom skiers (as ever), but at least now the jokers like them will not get rewarded with perfect slalom conditions for their poor downhill runs.

I´m perfectly fine to return to the Downhill (and even a real long and hard one) and the leaders starting first in the 2nd part but then also we must return to a 2 runs slaloms. Alpine Combined was great event in the Albertville, Lillehammer and Nagano era. I would be more than happy to have this format back again

The biggest problem is indeed with Super G replacing Downhill. Moroever the rise of the so-called "technical" speed events compared to boring old school speed races.

The all-arounders are effectively gone BUT more & more tech speciallists do the Super-G which further ehnaces their chances in AC. Bringing back the old school DH is the only reasonable solution I can think of to limit the tech skiers advantage.

If those slalom runs are as insanely short as in Nagano (35 seconds or so), sure :p

Plus it just makes the most sense. When looking for the most allround skier, one should have the most technical + most speed-focussed events in it --> slalom + downhill

Just like the decathlon needs runs, jumps, throws etc :p
