All 16 teams rosters updated.

:KAZ arrived with 28 and :DEN with 26 players. Kazakhstan will have to cut 3 and Denmark 1 player.

:CAN and :USA arrived with 23 players, both teams can and will add 2 players in the next days.

Remember several teams will wait for the situation in the North-American Play-Offs and thus will likely write to the official roster less players and wait to add eventual reinforcements from overseas. (:SVK for sure will for example write only 7 defencers officially and wait for the New Jersey-Carolina NHL Stanley Cup series, we have already presented interest on the reinforcement from Šimon Nemec)

You can find easily all updated rosters in the First page of this thread here, just click on the Nation you are interested

Power Rankings

11th May 2023

Do you believe in deja vu?
If so, you just might be an optimistic Finnish fan as the 2023 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship gets rolling in Tampere and Riga (12 to 28 May).
Head coach Jukka Jalonen is hard to bet against as he looks for his fourth World Championship gold medal with the defending champion Finns.
They also made history last year with their first Olympic gold medal, and deservedly top our first Power Rankings.
Right behind in second place is Canada. It's faced Finland in the last three finals, winning in overtime in 2021 and barely falling short in 2019 and 2022.
Sweden rounds out our top three with a potent blend of NHL, SHL, and Swiss NL talent, questing for its first title since 2018. Bring on the thrills!

1 fin.png FIN Finnish parliament votes to win gold again :p
2 can.png CAN Ultimately, it’s all about Milan
3 swe.png SWE If only the quarter-finals were in Helsinki!
4 cze.png CZE Before Milan, the Roman Empire will rise again
5 usa.png USA There’s Apple, there’s Disney, and there’s us
6 sui.png SUI It’s our time to shine (silver-style)
7 ger.png GER If he was Swiss, we’d call him St. Moritz
8 svk.png SVK Eighth-place parade, anybody?
9 lat.png LAT Let’s have more fun than in 2021!
10 den.png DEN Bjorkstrand killed the Avs, so Finland is toast
11 nor.png NOR As usual...we’re here ! :p
12 fra.png FRA Le jour de gloire arrivera-t-il ?
13 aut.png AUT Obviously, you gotta respect Mozart
14 kaz.png KAZ We will not win the draft lottery :p
15 slo.png SLO Number one overall – in our fans’ hearts
16 hun.png HUN There’s no tanking in Tampere

The Power Rankings are for the enjoyment of IIHF.com readers, and reflect the progress of teams during the IIHF Ice Hockey Women's World Championship. They are distinct from the official standings and IIHF Women's World Ranking.

Also first training done yesterday´s evening, as one of the last teams to enter the ice it was more like a kind of just taking away the fatigue from the travel, since the ice was ...well, there was almost no ice after all teams had their training earlier and no ressurfacing was done by the organizers...

Look at the ice in the video. I hope sincerely, they are going to fix the ice before tomorrow :p

Today the trainings in the Riga Arena were even cancelled :p

All teams had to move to the Daugava Arena almost 4 km away from the Riga Arena. Obviously nobody knew that and players had move there in full equipments by bus

Šimon Nemec is in.

After New Jersey elimination in the NHL Stanley Cup Play-offs against Carolina a couple of hours ago, our team staff already contacted him and he accepted the invitation. Apparently he is already packed and should fly to Riga on Saturday, logically he won´t make it to the first two matches CZE today and LAT tomorrow yet, but he should probably be available from the third match against Canada.

Thanks god for him. Our defence is just an absolute crap right now after all refusals because of injury, end of contracts in NHL, KHL players ban and several other reasons we lost already guys like Erik Černák, Martin Fehérváry, Peter Čerešňák, Martin Gernát, Christian Jaroš, Michal Čajkovský (Already Top 6 defenders, whom would be normally easily in our 8 Def corp... but yeah, what can we do....)

Thanks god again for Nemec ! The kid, this years NHL draft overall pick number 2 is 19 years old, but hockey IQ already a couple of level higher than all the 8 blueliners we have in Riga together...so to say...

The staff after Carolina-New Jersey ended game also contacted and invited Tomáš Tatar. His participation is anyway questionable, since he is in end of contract...so very unlikely.
